The Masked Singer’s Disc Jockey was eliminated on Saturday (January 3) with a BBC icon getting unmasked. The popular ITV show made its return this evening for its seventh series, featuring more eliminations than previous seasons, alongside several format adjustments.

Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Maya Jama returned to the panel to decipher the true identities behind the elaborate costumes. The opening episode showcased acts from Sloth, Can of Worms, Gargoyle, Disc Jockey and Moth, with Disc Jockey and Gargoyle landing in the danger zone after securing the fewest audience votes.

The panel chose to save Gargoyle, resulting in Disc Jockey being eliminated first, before The One Show presenter Alex Jones was unmasked, reports Wales Online.

Discussing the various clues, Alex quipped: “To be honest, I wouldn’t have guessed me! That’s really hard isn’t it!”

Presenter Joel Dommett remarked: “This is such a weird thing because we listen to your voice every single day on The One Show,” whilst Mo observed: “You did a good job of disguising your voice though, because your voice is so recognisable.”

Looking back on her participation, Alex revealed: “I’ve had a lot of fun. We love this programme as a family and I just thought to do it for the children would be wonderful. It’s the most bizarre experience of my life, but I’ve loved it, thank you.”

Addressing her children down the camera, the presenter wrapped up: “Teddy, Kit and Annie, this was for you. I hope you loved it. Love you.”

An unmasked Alex then delivered her version of Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club, with the panel and audience cheering her on.

ITV audiences were stunned upon discovering Disc Jockey’s true identity, with numerous viewers flocking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their astonishment.

“I wouldn’t have said Alex Jones in a million years. Congrats to those who got her because I defo wouldn’t have,” one viewer posted, whilst another commented: “I was not expecting Disc Jockey to be Alex Jones!!”

A third remarked: “I would never have got Alex,” with another similarly stating: “Alex Jones was not at all one of my guesses.”

A fourth admirer mirrored the feeling, exclaiming: “OMG ALEX JONES! Definitely didn’t guess her!”

Alex wasn’t the only celebrity to be unveiled this evening, as pop sensation Anne-Marie was revealed to be the person behind the Goldfish mask after fronting the show’s first-ever live band.
