However, one hopeful viewer suggested, “Maybe there’s a part 2 for the In Memoriam cause that was missing a lot of people #BETAwards.” Indeed, viewers had to keep watching as the In Memoriam section did feature a follow-up which included a tribute to Angie Stone. Irv Gotti, Sam Moore and DJ Unk were also honored during the follow-up.
Despite the criticism, many viewers were brought to tears over the emotional tribute section. “BET got it right this time. This tribute is actually amazing,” one person praised.
A second fan wrote, “This “In Memoriam” has been taking me out all night!!! I completely lost it when I saw Irv Gotti, Tony Todd, Angie Stone! These are legends that are gone way too soon.”

“Probably one of the best tributes BET has done in a very long time!” a third person shared on X. Viewers also teared up when Jamie Foxx was honored with the Ultimate Icon award, presented to him by Stevie Wonder.
The actor reflected on his health issues after suffering a stroke last year as he accepted the award. “When I saw that ‘In Memoriam’ I was like, ‘Man that could’ve been me.’ But I don’t know why I went through what I went through but I know my second chance I’m not going to turn down,” he told the crowd.
Jamie added, “I’m not going to turn down, I have so much love to give. I told him I said, ‘Man, bro, just give me one more crack at this.’ And I promise I said, ‘Whatever reason you put this on me I promise imma do right.’”
