It was an awkward morning on Good Morning Britain when Kate Garraway, 58, was accidentally caught whispering to her co-star during Friday’s live broadcast — and her microphone captured every word.

Viewers were left both amused and puzzled as the seasoned presenter’s quiet comments went out live while her colleagues were mid-discussion.

Kate, who was hosting alongside Adil Ray, appeared unaware that her mic was still on as guests Salma Shah and Caroline Flint began debating the government’s latest prison release blunder. Instead of silence, viewers suddenly heard Kate whisper:

“Okay, let’s have a look.”
“Okay, will somebody look at these?”

Social media immediately lit up with confusion. One viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“What was that freaky whispering?”

“Sounds like Kate whispering something… can’t make it out though.”

Dozens of fans flooded the comments:

“Someone tell Kate her mic’s still on!”
“Kate, we can hear you! Omg she’s still doing it!”

Despite the minor technical mishap, the Good Morning Britain team didn’t address it live — and carried on as if nothing had happened.

Earlier in the same episode, Kate and Adil discussed the Celebrity Traitors finale, which saw Alan Carr crowned winner, taking home £87,500 after fooling his fellow contestants.

Singer Cat Burns was the first finalist voted out, followed by Joe Marler, leaving Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga to discover Alan’s shocking true identity.

But that wasn’t the only on-air drama involving Kate this week. Just a day earlier, she found herself reigniting her playful feud with sports presenter Clare Balding, live on Good Morning Britain.

Clare, 54, appeared on the show to promote her new novel Pastures New, which tells the story of a woman who starts over by moving to a sheep farm. Things took a cheeky turn when co-host Ed Balls joked that the book had been described as a “bonk buster.”

The two stars, who were Faithful on the series, were both falsely accused by their co-stars and voted out on two different group discussions

Kate quickly defended herself, insisting:

“I did not say that! I was told that — don’t start trouble between Clare and me again!”

Clare laughed off the comment but corrected Kate:

“No, that’s because Jilly Cooper told me to write it — but it’s not a bonk buster, it’s about love and trust.”

However, tension between the two resurfaced when talk turned back to their time on Celebrity Traitors. Both women were “Faithful” contestants who were wrongly accused and voted out — and Kate reminded Clare who pointed the finger first.

“Clare was the first person to say I was suspicious,” Kate teased. “I feel like I’m back at the roundtable all over again!”

Clare fired back, saying:

“You kept arguing with me! I never put your name down!”

The back-and-forth had co-host Ed Balls stepping in with a laugh:

“What’s going on here? This is better than watching the actual show!”

Despite the light-hearted sparring, both women ended the segment laughing, with Clare joking that Celebrity Traitors was about far more than the game itself — it was about how people use their voices and power in groups.

Meanwhile, Kate brushed off the live mic moment with her trademark humor, later joking off-camera that it was “just another Friday morning” in the GMB studio
