The opening episode of The Traitors Season 4 aired last night (January 1), presenting audiences with 22 new contestants eager to navigate a game infamous for its backstabbing and betrayal.
Amongst this year’s participants is 35-year-old Matthew Hyndham. Whilst the Edinburgh-based reality television personality is described as a creative director on the programme, it didn’t take long for his secondary venture to come to light.
The contestant has established a unique niche performing headstands whilst completely naked in various breathtaking locations, subsequently selling the photographs to art enthusiasts. A single framed print commands £1,180 from gallery Bard Scotland, which presently features several of his pieces.
He’s even created a dedicated Instagram account for this endeavour called @headstandmatty which has amassed nearly 17,000 followers, though whilst appearing on The Traitors he’s utilising his primary account @yermatty.
In a playful reference to his artistic work, his biography links to his uncensored headstand page accompanied by the phrase: “If you know you know.”

Prior to his appearance on the show, Matthew disclosed what he would do with the prize money should he emerge victorious. The prize fund fluctuates from season to season, but can reach an impressive £120,000, reports WalesOnline.
“There are many things that I’ve imagined spending the money on. I really want to buy a little cottage in The Highlands somewhere. I go up there so much, and I just kind of imagine myself there so that’s probably what I would do,” he revealed.
“Me and my partner got engaged during COVID, and I had campaigned for marriage equality in Northern Ireland – they had civil partnerships, but they never had same sex marriage until 2020. At the time I was campaigning, I didn’t think that I wanted to get married, but now I feel like I do.

“So having campaigned for marriage equality in Northern Ireland, I think that’s a better story for the last Round Table if I get there because it’s not cool to go against the gay who wants to get married! I think that I would probably say that I’m going to get married back home in Northern Ireland on my family farm. And then if I win, I might just have to do that.”
This series introduces a fresh element of intrigue with an additional Traitor joining the fray – one whose identity remains concealed not only from fellow contestants but from audiences watching at home as well.
