Adam Peaty’s family have hit back at Gordon Ramsay’s controversial father of the bride speech. During the reception, the celebrity chef took the microphone amidst Adam’s strained family rift and told the newlyweds his wife Tana would be a ‘good mum’ to them both now. Adam’s family were barred from attending the wedding following a dispute during the hen and stag parties.

During his address, TV star Gordon praised his daughter on how beautiful she looked before telling groom Adam he was a ‘lucky man.’ Turning to his wife Tana, he said: ‘Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.” To his daughter Holly he’s alleged to have said, “Shame you don’t have the same.”

Caroline Peaty, who was excluded from the ceremony, believes the celebrity chef had ‘pre planned’ the cruel jibe against her. A family source told the Daily Mail: “Caroline can’t believe Gordon brought their family troubles up his speech. It is outrageous and very hurtful.”

“By him saying Tana will be a good mum to them both makes Caroline sound like a bad mum. It was a cruel dig at her. She has always done her best for all her children. She is a very good mum. Who says this wasn’t pre-planned.?’”

The source added: “We may not have much as a family but we have values.”

It comes as Adam appeared to make a brutal statement after marrying Holly, as he has decided to change his name. The Olympic champion seems to have sent a significant message about his future by altering his name on social media. Just two days post-wedding, the star revealed he now goes by Adam Ramsay Peaty, in tribute to his new wife.

This name change is the latest indication that Adam has distanced himself from his own family, after excluding his parents from his wedding at Bath Abbey
