Sir David Beckham has extended an olive branch to his estranged son, Brooklyn, ahead of the New Year’s Eve festivities. It comes after the football ace posted a series of heartfelt throwback snaps featuring the budding chef on his Instagram Stories on New Year’s Eve. The gesture came just hours after followers spotted the 26-year-old’s noticeable absence from his father’s 2025 highlights reel.

Sharing a black and white snap of the sportsman and his eldest son pressing their cheeks together, he captioned the post: “I love you all so much.” The doting parents later shared a family photo taken around the time of their daughter Harper’s birth, showing Victoria curled up on the sofa with her four children.

David captioned the pic: “You are my life”, adding five white heart emojis before concluding the message with: “I love you all, Love Daddy x. On to 2026.” He isn’t the only parent to reach out to Brooklyn from across the pond.

Victoria appeared to echo her husband’s sentiment when she reported the snap of Brooklyn on her own Instagram Story, simply adding a heart gif. The emotional tribute arrived against the backdrop of mounting family tension that has dominated most of 2025.

Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, have been absent from Beckham family get-togethers throughout the year. The couple failed to attend any of the three lavish 50th birthday celebrations and did not publicly acknowledge his father’s milestone birthday on May 2.

They were also missing from David’s investiture ceremony when King Charles bestowed his knighthood, an honour which the former England captain has been working towards for years. Victoria’s Netflix documentary premiere was another event the couple skipped in addition to the family’s winter holiday gatherings.

The public rift is reported to have begun around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding back in 2022, although conflicting accounts about its precise cause have since emerged.

The situation quickly escalated dramatically in the weeks leading up to Christmas when Cruz Beckham publicly denied press reports suggesting his parents had unfollowed Brooklyn on social media.

Taking to his Instagram Story, the 20-year-old fumed: “NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.”

The revelation confirmed that Brooklyn had made the decision to cut ties with his famous family online rather than the other way around. A source told Us Weekly in October that Brooklyn had “no interest in mending things at this time” and was “really focused on living a peaceful, drama-free life with Nicola.”

The insider added that relationships between Brooklyn and his family “are all still strained. Meanwhile, across the pond, Nicola and Brooklyn have shared a series of loved-up festive snaps from their Christmas in Los Angeles.

The couple posed up a storm in matching pyjamas and wished followers “a merry Christmas and a happy new year filled with so much love, peace, and happiness.” Their festive post attracted backlash from followers who are keen to see a reconciliation within the Beckham family.
