Coronation Street star confirms the end for one character in Theo’s story
A Coronation Street star has confirmed the end of his character’s involvement in the Theo Silverton storyline. Actor Andrew Hayden-Smith has been playing Theo’s business associate Pete in recent episodes.
The grim domestic abuse plot with Theo and his partner Todd Grimshaw has seen Theo relentlessly manipulate and intimidate his boyfriend. He also cheated on him with Pete, and although Todd kicked him out, Theo managed to talk him around. He then went so far as to force Todd to help him wine and dine Pete to secure a work contract, only to then accuse him of flirting.
Hayden-Smith recently took to Instagram to wish the ITV soap a happy 65th birthday, and shared several behind-the-scenes set and dressing room photos from his time on the soap.
“So unbelievably proud to have walked on your illustrious cobbles earlier this year,” he wrote.

He then confirmed to a follower that he has concluded his time on the cobbles, writing: “All done now.”
Hayden-Smith also played detective Gavin Armstrong on Hollyoaks in 2016 and 2017, and starred in Byker Grove as Ben Carter between 1996 and 2003. He hosts the Back to Byker YouTube series, where he interviews his fellow former cast mates and reflects on the show’s impact. He’s also appeared in three episodes of Doctor Who as Jake Simmonds.

Coronation Street recently aired a special episode focused on Todd and Theo. Told through the found-footage format, it solely consisted of videos taken from Todd’s hidden camera, CCTV, video doorbells and police bodycams. The episode revealed the pair had a physical fight that saw Theo hospitalised, and pointing the finger at Todd as the aggressor.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
