Actor Anthony Head’s wife Sarah Fisher has died at the age of 61, their daughters confirmed. The Ted Lasso star and their daughters released a devastating tribute describing the loss as “immensely shocking with no warning”. In life, Sarah worked as an animal rights campaigner and lived near Bath with the 71-year-old actor until her death.
The news was confirmed in a heartbreaking statement by their daughters, Emily and Daisy, who spoke movingly about the sudden and unexpected loss. In their tribute, the sisters said: “It is immensely shocking to us all, and came with very little warning.
“No words could ever express all that she encompassed, or begin to describe the crater her absence has left.” They continued: “We know how profoundly she has impacted the lives of so many, and we couldn’t be more proud of the legacy she is leaving behind. We only wish she’d had more time to share her knowledge and brilliance with us, and the world.
“Our grief knows no bounds, nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit.” No further details about Sarah’s death were disclosed.
Sarah was well known for her tireless work in animal welfare and had long-standing links with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where she worked closely with her famous partner. After the news of her death hit headlines, the charity released its own tribute, praising her dedication and impact in animal welfare.
In a statement, Battersea wrote: “We’re truly sorry to lose our beloved friend and Ambassador Sarah Fisher and send our deepest sympathies to Sarah’s partner Anthony, her daughters, and her family and friends.”

It added: “Sarah, alongside her partner Anthony Head, gave so much to our charity, fostering dogs, using her canine behaviour expertise to train our staff and volunteers, and contributing in so many ways to make a real difference in animal welfare. She will be dearly missed by all of us at Battersea.”
Sarah was also a long-serving patron of Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Somerset. Founder Pauline Leeson paid tribute to her campaigning work and compassion.
Pauline said: “Sarah was an advocate for all animals and was always a voice for those dear souls who have no voice. She will be a huge loss to the animal kingdom she worked so tirelessly for, helping so very many animals of all species to find their way to cope and be happy in this changing world.”
She added: “We at Holly Hedge are so proud to have known Sarah. Her memory will live on in all the good work and positive change she has made to their lives. Our hearts go out to Anthony, Emily, Daisy, and family.”
Their famous daughter, Emily Head, is best known for playing Carly D’Amato in the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners, where Anthony memorably appeared as the father of main character Will McKenzie. Daisy, 34, also followed in her father’s acting footsteps, famously portraying Grace in the US drama Guilt, and appeared in the blockbuster Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Anthony has enjoyed a long and varied career, best known as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Prime Minister in Little Britain, and Uther Pendragon in Merlin. Most recently, he appeared in Ted Lasso as Rupert Mannion, the former owner of AFC Richmond.
