A Fox News contributor revealed she has been quietly battling stage 3 cancer for the past six weeks after an unexpected reveal during a live TV debate.

Political analyst Lucy Caldwell was on MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz and Clay Travis, as the trio spoke about President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis. The conversation focused on whether Biden had delayed sharing the news with the public.

While discussing the timeline of Biden’s illness, Caldwell said “we just don’t know” when he was first diagnosed, adding that cancer can come on “quickly and aggressively.” She didn’t hold back on the political side either, admitting the diagnosis looks bad for Biden’s team. “The optics are bad,” she said — but also stressed that the disease is “nuanced.”

In a moment that clearly caught the panel off guard, she opened up about her own cancer diagnosis. “I actually will tell you something. I have cancer,” she said, “I am actively a cancer patient right now. I also feel great.”

The panelist explained how uncertain the process can be when you’re living with cancer. “You get the cancer diagnosis, it could be weeks or months before you know more about your cancer,” she shared.

Fighting back tears, she added, “It is important that we show compassion and care and understanding about the nuance and complexities of these illnesses.”

Both Kurtz and Travis responded with warm wishes, hoping she makes a full recovery. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Biden has stage 4 prostate cancer that’s already spread to his bones. His doctors remain hopeful, though, saying it’s hormone-sensitive and could be “effectively managed.”

The news was shared in a statement as Biden’s office said, “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

Biden’s recent diagnosis led to an outpouring of sympathy, but also stirred fresh questions about his health during his time in office. After the news broke, support came in from both Democrats and Republicans.

President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he and First Lady Melania Trump were “saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family,” he said, referring to former First Lady Jill Biden. “We wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Messages also came from Former Vice-President Kamala Harris, former President Barack Obama, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
