Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins praised NHS staff following the ordeal.

Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins’ yuletide festivities took an unexpected turn when a family member suffered a medical emergency requiring urgent hospital treatment. The 50-year-old mother’s Christmas Day gathering was disrupted after her father-in-law fell seriously unwell.

The beloved broadcaster revealed he required emergency surgery, whilst praising the healthcare professionals who intervened. She posted: “Happy New Year to you! And raising a glass to toast Christmas miracles this year, it’s been quite the few days for us.

“My father-in-law had to be rushed to hospital from ours on Christmas Eve, but amazingly was back around the table less than 24 hours later after having a pacemaker fitted.

From the brilliant paramedics in the ambulance, to the incredible NHS team who were there in the hospital over Christmas and got him back to us in time to raise a glass on Christmas Day. Such a HUGE thank you.”

Supporters rallied around the television personality following the ordeal. Feebee commented: “Wow! Sending you all some peace and healing.” Lexi wrote: “Happy New Year. So glad your FIL is ok”.

Comeon remarked: “Looking stunning, beautiful, happy new year, glad you’re father-in-law is feeling better.”

Cam stated: “Happy New Year. Pleased to hear all has ended well..” Will noted: “Happy New year Charlotte and best wishes to your father-in-law.”

Charlotte has previously battled to contain her emotions whilst discussing her own late father’s struggle with motor neurone disease on the programme. The television presenter’s dad, Frank, passed away in 2015, aged 78, after a three-year fight with the terminal illness.

Charlotte started by stating: “On the subject of modern technology, there has been a lot of AI and people are worried about where we are heading with this and people are wondering where we are heading with this.”

She continued: “I just want to flag a positive use of AI because I am a patron of Motor Neurone Disease Association and this one caught my eye. There is a lady called Sarah Ezekiel, now she has motor neurone disease and one of the hardest things for people with motor neurone disease is losing your voice.

“And by the power of AI her voice has been replicated after finding a small video clip and they managed to use AI and this is the voice that it gave her.”
