Bargain Hunt expert Danny Sebastian sparked exit fears over the weekend as his festive episode of the BBC antiques show hit the airwaves. On Friday (December 20), TV bosses brought a bit of festive cheer to the show as the countdown to Christmas looms closer.
The mid-century modern expert donned his jazzy festive suit and even rocked an elf costume alongside his co-stars, Roo Irvine and Caroline Hawley. The trip cast their eyes over some of the best vintage children’s toys their local antiques fairs had to offer before they lent a helping hand at Santa’s workshop. This week, the expert shared some behind-the-scenes snaps from the shoot online.
He penned: “I’ve not seen yesterday’s Christmas episode as of yet, and if you haven’t, don’t forget you can catch it on @BBCiPlayer. I so enjoyed doing this programme, and I do hope you enjoyed it too.
“What about the mince pies and Chef Mary?? Merry Christmas to all from myself @BBCBargainHunt [red love heart, blue love heart].” It didn’t take long before fans flooded the comments to pass on their well-wishes for the festive season online.
One user penned: “Merry Christmas to you and the rest of the gang”, as another agreed: “Wishing you and all the Bargain Hunt crew a happy, peaceful and blessed Christmas.”
A third gushed: “I absolutely loved the lady who was discussing the different foods at Christmas. She was great and so enthusiastic. Of course, so are you, Danny [laughing emoji].”

After sharing the Christmas post online, the official Bargain Hunt account reshared the post, sharing a cryptic caption. It read: “Thanks for the memories, Danny [heart emoji, Christmas tree emoji]” to which he replied: “Thanks for the show”.
This sparked fears amongst fans that he might be leaving the show in the new year, as viewers flocked to the comments to share their concerns online. One user asked, “Is this your last episode?” while another asked, “You’re not leaving, are you?”
The broadcaster quickly shut down axe fears online, simply replying: “Nope!” The self-made antiques dealer first appeared on the show as an expert in 2017, before transitioning into a presenter role.
Away from the screen, the TV star was born in Northampton and has been in the antique business for over two decades. He began dealing antiques at a very early age, after his passion was ignited while attending auction houses and jumble sales with his mum.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph about his mum, Danny shared: “She loved a bargain. We’d go to Wilford’s, and I’d be mesmerised by the grand arrangement of it all. She’d buy anything as long as it was cheap.”
He also spoke to the BBC about how his entrance into the antique world was “fate”. He added, “I was at an auction down south and stumbled across a room that was being prepared for a mid-20th-century sale, and all that I saw I just loved. Straight away I thought, ‘I’m getting into this game; I’d love to sell this tackle’.”
