GB News was interrupted for a major breaking news announcement as boxer Anthony Joshua, 36, was caught in a fatal car crash. The news programme put a breaking banner across the bottom of the screen which read Anthony Joshua injured, as the newsreader said: “Breaking news in the last hour, as boxing legend Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash in Nigeria. We will bring you more on that story as we get it.”
Aaron Armstrong then said: “We’ll start with that breaking news, as Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash that killed two people in Nigeria. I should add that this information is not confirmed at the moment, but it is understood that the two-time heavyweight boxing champion sustained minor injuried when his vehicle collided with a stationary truck along a busy section of the Lagos-Ibadan highway around 11am local time. Prior to the crash, Joshua had posted a video of himself playing table tennis in the country 10 days after his big money fight against Jake Paul.”

Two other occupants in the same car were reportedly killed as emergency responders rushed to the scene. Lanre Ogunlowo, commissioner of Ogun State Police, confirmed Joshua had been taken to hospital for treatment, adding that he was “fine”.
Footage has been posted online which shows the former heavyweight world champion boxer looking dazed as he sat topless in the car while surrounded by shattered glass.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told Daily Mail Sport: “I am away on a family holiday and awoke to the news of this incident.
“We are trying to contact Anthony and in the meantime we don’t want to speculate on how he is but thankfully he appears OK from what I have seen in the images.
“We are awaiting more information on what has happened and will update in due course.”
It comes days after Joshua took on YouTube Jake Paul, 28, knocking him out in six rounds after breaking his jaw in two places. The fight brought in a whopping 33million views on Netflix.
