Gogglebox fans rushed to support the famous Siddiqui family after the Channel 4 stars took to Instagram and shared that they’d suffered a tragic double death in 2025. The beloved family first joined the show during the very first series in 2013, and consists of Baasit and his two brothers, Umar and Raza, alongside their father, Sid. However, their mum, Nasreen, has not appeared on the show.
The Derby-based unit has long become fan favourites due to their hilarious one-liners and obscure opinions throughout the years. The family has also regularly kept viewers updated about their personal lives on social media, as Bassit’s wife, Melissa, shares insights into their lives as parents to their two children, Amelia and Theodore. However, in an emotional post, she reflected on the past year and announced deaths in the caption, in which she described two loved ones as “angels.”

The mum-of-two shared a snap from each month of 2025, including a photo of their beloved cats, who sadly died. Alongside trips to Disneyland and highlights from Halloween, Melissa shared: “2025 Recap Some highlights of the year…including our two fur angels that left us this year. Heart full of memories made this year.”
Taking to the comments, fans rallied round with support for the family, as one penned: “Beautiful memories of 2025, here’s to lots more in 2026 xx happy new year to you both and your beautiful family.”
Another added: “Happy New Year to you all. Hope 2026 is your best one yet.” As a third shared: “Awwww, 12 months of beautiful memories have a happy new year 2026.” Another fan echoed: “Beautiful memories for a beautiful family.”
The family first announced the emotional news in February on Instagram, revealing their cat Rufus had passed after more than 15 years.
“Goodnight, our beautiful boy Rufus. 15 and a half years wasn’t long enough, you were and always will be a big part of our lives,” they wrote alongside sweet photos of the late feline.
Then, in September, the heartbroken family shared: “Sleep Tight, Little One. Our little Diva Poppy – nearly 14 years and still didn’t feel long enough.
“A lifetime of memories we will all never forget. We hope you are reunited with your big brother Rufus and are both chasing rainbows together. Pets leave paw prints on our hearts, and memories in our souls. Sleep tight, little one.”
