Coronation Street fans are fearing the worst for David Platt after he suffered a seizure following the dramatic bus crash.

Coronation Street fans are worried that soap stalwart David Platt may be heading for a heart-wrenching departure.

David has been a mainstay on the soap for over two decades, first appearing in 1990. As Gail’s (Helen Worth) mischievous son, David has won over the hearts of viewers.

He’s also been at the centre of numerous major storylines. From narrowly escaping death at the hands of his stepfather Richard Hillman to his tumultuous marriages, his stint in Weatherfield has been anything but dull.

This is particularly true at present, as this week saw David and his pregnant wife Shona (Julia Goulding) involved in a disastrous crash during the monumental crossover episode Corriedale.

Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) was driving a minibus full of wedding guests returning from Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Ronnie Bailey’s (Vinta Morgan) wedding when the accident occurred, reports the Daily Star.

David and Shona managed to escape the minibus, but Billy was trapped and tragically died. After exiting the vehicle, Shona feared she couldn’t feel her baby, but Emmerdale’s Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) reassured her that the child was fine.

However, the drama didn’t end there for David. At the hospital, things took a horrifying turn when Shona’s waters broke and she began to have contractions.

Suddenly, David – who was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2010 – collapsed to the floor and started having a seizure, leaving Shona watching in terror.

In the episode aired on Tuesday, January 6, it was disclosed that David had made a full recovery, much to everyone’s relief. However, his sister Sarah (played by Tina O’Brien) voiced her worries, noting that he hadn’t suffered a fit in some time.

Yet, with more dramatic twists expected, viewers are speculating that David might be written out of the show. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer pondered: “Is David having a fit part of a bigger storyline? Is he going to die?”.

Another chimed in: “He was diagnosed years ago but I do think something’s going to happen to him.” A third distressed fan added: “Same here, I’ll be in tears if they kill him off.”
