Ranvir Singh fought back tears on Wednesday morning’s segment of Good Morning Britain as she bid farewell to ITV legend Phil Ramsden.
The 48-year-old presenter and journalist teared up and clutched her co-star Richard Madeley‘s hand for support as she wished the cast and crew a Happy New Year, before saying goodbye to news editor Phil.
Ranvir announced that Phil – who has worked on the daytime show for 20 years – is retiring today, marking his incredible stint with ITV.

Looking incredible in her sparkly sequinned dress, Ranvir began: ‘As we were saying, it is our final show of 2025 with the best team on television and it’s the last one in the studio as for the next year.’
She continued: ‘Before we go, we both and everyone here, all the presenting team who you see every day, we want to say, oh gosh, I’m going to tear up.’
Richard, 69, reached out to Ranvir as she got her breath back to finish her sentence.

‘We want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to every person who works on this show because you are amazing,’ she added.
‘Can I just say to Phil Ramsden, who is our news editor, who is retiring today after nearly 20 years at ITV.
‘One of the best – and indeed one of many of the best. We wish you all a very Happy New Year.’
Richard then concluded: ‘Have a great new year. We will see you on Monday, January 5th. Just once again, thank you to our team.’
The show was drawn to a close with Ranvir getting emotional as she said goodbye to her colleagues.
Earlier on in the show, they were joined by Hussain Munawer, a poet who appeared in ITV’s 1 Million Minutes Campaign back in 2020.
The campaign encourages people to pledge their time, instead of money, to help combat the issue of loneliness in the UK.
Ranvir was hoping to finish the campaign with more than 210 million minutes before it concluded.

Hussain shared his latest poem for this year’s campaign, which he only wrote two days ago.
Sharing the impressive poem, he said: ‘I’m not gonna say new year, new me, because me and my old self just got friendly.
‘And thanks to you at the end of the phone, who listen when you’re lonely and alone.
‘Friendship, companionship and support can be really hard to envision. But when you’ve gifted your time, the most valuable thing a human can do. That’s a life-changing, life-saving, powerful decision.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
