UFC Star Pushes Bizarre ‘Jake Paul Curse’ Claim After Anthony Joshua Crash: “He’s Gonna Kill You”

After Anthony Joshua’s shocking setback, a UFC fighter sparks debate by blaming the so-called Jake Paul curse, warning that associating with Paul brings chaos and career trouble.

There is no doubt that when it comes to free speech, no other sports organization gives its athletes more freedom to say what they want than the UFC. The result can sometimes be extreme, as stars like Sean Strickland often go overboard. However, no one comes close to being as controversial as Bruce Mitchell. Now, once again, after sharing his thoughts on Anthony Joshua’s car accident, he has slammed Jake Paul with another bizarre claim.

Mitchell made an extremely controversial claim after Joshua’s car crash. He suggested that if you don’t let Jake Paul win, someone’s going to die nine days later – either you or your best friends. That’s a wild accusation with zero evidence.

The crash killed two people who were Joshua’s coaches and close friends. Abdul-Lateef and Sina died in the front seats while Anthony was in the back. Sina worked as AJ’s strength-and-conditioning coach and helped prepare him for the Paul fight. Latz was his personal trainer.

Meanwhile, Mitchell said, “If you don’t let Jake Paul win, he’s gonna kill you 9 days later. Or kill your best friends. Somebody is going to die if you don’t let him win.”

That’s genuinely tragic regardless of any conspiracy theories. Two men lost their lives who were close to Joshua personally and professionally. Mitchell jumping straight to blaming Paul for the deaths after a car accident is irresponsible and disrespectful to the victims.

There’s no evidence connecting Paul to this tragedy beyond the timing of their recent fight. Meanwhile, on social media, there is chatter of a new Jake Paul curse.

The “Jake Paul curse” talk has been circulating online, pointing to various misfortunes befalling his opponents. Nate Robinson’s career ending, Askren’s health issues, Woodley’s financial problems, Fury’s struggles, Bourland quitting, Chavez Jr.’s deportation, and now this crash.

But correlation isn’t causation. Fighters face difficulties all the time, regardless of who they’ve fought. Cherry-picking negative outcomes from Paul’s opponents and calling it a curse ignores that bad things happen to everyone.

Mitchell’s claim crosses from conspiracy theory into genuinely harmful territory. Suggesting Paul orchestrates deaths after losses is defamatory and disrespectful to actual victims and their families. Mitchell has a pattern of extremely controversial statements, but this one might be his worst yet.
