Gogglebox stars Lee and Jenny reveal future on show but fans will not be happy(Image: C4)

Gogglebox favourites Lee Riley and Jenny Newby have spoken about what lies ahead for them on the programme following their 11-year stint.

The duo first appeared on the beloved Channel 4 series back in 2014, quickly establishing themselves as viewer darlings.

Throughout their time on screen, the Hull-based friends – who have maintained their bond for over two decades – have left audiences in fits of laughter with their witty remarks and amusing commentary on television programmes.

Beyond their on-screen appearances, Lee and Jenny frequently update fans about their daily adventures through their shared Instagram profile, which boasts 869,000 followers.

This Thursday (December 23), the pair returned to social media, posting a seasonal snapshot of themselves sporting Santa hats whilst clutching glasses of fizz, reports the Mirror.

Their caption extended festive greetings to supporters whilst appearing to hint at their return date for Gogglebox’s upcoming series. However, the revelation is likely to disappoint fans, as there’s quite a wait ahead.

Lee and Jenny penned: “Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a fabulous New Year cheers everyone see you all in February, much love Jenny and Lee.”

The comments section was swamped with festive messages from admirers and fellow Gogglebox personalities. Dave and Shirley Griffiths responded: “Merry Christmas both have a fab time love Dave and Shirley.”

Siblings Simon and Jane Minty penned: “Merry Christmas to you Jenny and Lee. Hope it is an absolute beaut.”

In the same vein, one admirer enthused: “Merry Christmas have a great one”. Another chimed in with: “Nice photo of you both.” The friendship between Lee and Jenny dates back to 1994 when they first met at a pub where Jenny was the landlady.

Speaking to Ireland’s Big Issue magazine, Jenny recalled: “Lee was a customer at my pub, The Crown Inn in Paull. He became a regular in 1994 and used to come in pretty much every night with his partner and we were friends from the off. We’ve been best friends ever since.”

Lee quipped: “I wish I’ve never gone in the pub – it cost me a fortune. When I first met her she had a perm and I can remember thinking, ‘She needs a haircut’. We were firm friends immediately.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had an argument. We’re too placid to argue. She makes me laugh too much for me to ever fall out with her.”
