‘One of the bravest people I know’

Katie Piper has revealed she’s had surgery again on her eye and shared how she feels about being bandaged up.

The beloved TV star’s life changed forever back in March 2008 when she was subjected to a vile acid attack. The ordeal caused blindness in her left eye and major damage to her face, neck, chest and upper arms.

She has since had to undergo numerous painstaking surgical procedures. And this week, Katie revealed she went under the knife again for her “pain in the neck” eye.

Katie Piper reveals surgery for eye

On Sunday (December 21) Katie took to her Instagram and shared a video of her getting ready in her dressing room. In the clip, she could be seen wearing a bandage over her left eye.

“Current situation. It was planned eye surgery,” Katie told her 1.2 million followers.  She added: “It’s so funny, it’s got me thinking, I actually like being bandaged on this side.

“You know that I’m happy in how I look, well I suppose the right word is I’ve got self-acceptance, because like any woman I have my good days and bad days, I think that’s just how we all are.”

Katie ‘totally used to people staring’

Loose Women star Katie went on: “I’ve realised one of things about having a scar is never having a day off, but when I have this bandage on, it’s hidden and I’m having a day off.

“Even though to normal people, it makes you hyper-visual, this makes people stare at you. But people stare at me anyway so that’s been a thing forever and I’m totally used to that.”

Talking about her eye, Katie added: “This eye has been a pain in the neck for like 17 years, so much so that I was thrilled to get the prosthetic eye! Like who is happy about getting a glass eye?! It sounds mental.”
