GB News presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello returned to screens on Monday (December 22) to discuss the latest headlines with political commentator Scarlett Maguire and broadcaster Mike Parry. Eamonn introduced: “The Guardian’s front page says Keir Starmer has no coherent plan for social mobility,” which Scarlett described as a “really important story.” She explained: “What we’ve got is a real problem with what we call the N.E.E.T, which is the Not in Employment Education Training and actually things are being done, there is now an absolute guarantee that if you’re young and unemployed for 18 months you will be given a placement.”
Ellie argued: They’re not making it easy for employers to hire young people, they’re expensive,” to which Mike passionately agreed: “Absolutely!” He added: “I mean, for goodness sake, this is not joined-up Government thinking, on the one hand, Rachel Reeves is putting people out of work, they don’t get jobs in pubs anymore because pubs are closing down, they don’t get Saturday jobs anymore because employers can’t afford them becasue of all the tax Reeves is piling on.” But as Scarlett claimed that Britain is “getting better,” viewers took to social media with backlash. One fumed: “Is Scarlett on the same planet as the rest of us? Obviously not!” As another announced: “I’ve switched to Talk to some sensible talking.”

A third claimed: “Maguire is not that naive and misinformed to state that nobody on benefits chooses to receive benefits rather than work – she’s just a pathological liar.”
Another raged: “That woman knows nothing about the economy. I own a small business, and it’s been the worst year out of the last seven years I’ve been in business because of this backwards government.”
“Well, after watching Scarlet, I’m now bad-tempered. Thanks for that, GB News,” remarked one viewer.
As a sixth fumed: “Liebour’s achievements that Scarlett just reeled off are all Liebour’s gerrymandering freebies for votes that working people have to pay for – increased benefits, free meals, Islamophobia laws, importing more grateful migrants, giving 16-year-olds the vote, paying for young people to go to Europe, the destruction of local government, bloating the House of Lords, postal fraud, spreading illegals where they need votes.”

Mike clashed with Scarlett on GB News (Image: GB News )
During their clash, Mike argued: “All he [Starmer] does is bounce from one side to the other, float in the wind, whichever way the winds blowing, tries to appease people in that lobby group, in that lobby group.
“He hasn’t got any coherent policy except to try and keep himself inside of Number 10 Downing Street for as long as possible.”
However, Scarlet hit back: “We were in real dire problems, and we are getting better,” which prompted a laugh from Mike, who slammed: “We aren’t getting better.” As she fired back: “We are! Ellie questioned: “By what metric do you think we’re getting better?”
The commentator listed: “We’re slowly getting growth, the interest rates are slowly coming down from what they used to be, but actually what matters is what’s been done and what really matters is again what we do with the young.”
Scarlet listed: “We’ve got nurseries which are expanding, we’ve got breakfast clubs which means kids can go to school having eaten, an awful lot of work is being done for the young, and that’s where it really, really matters.”
