She gave a raw account of the state of play – and how it went down with her famous dad

DANI Dyer has bravely broken her silence on her relationship with her jailed ex – who is the father to her eldest child.

The former Love Island winner spoke candidly about the state of play with former trader Sammy Kimmence, 29, who was jailed for 42 months in 2021 after scamming OAPs out of £34,000.

At the time, he said he was an “awful human being” after he posed as a financial investor to defraud two vulnerable victims, 80 and 90, out of their hard-earned cash.

He was then locked up just months after he and Dani welcomed their son, Santiago.

In a frank chat on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, Dani, 29 – who is now married to footballer Jarrod Bowen and a mum of three – opened up both on her arrangement with Sammy – and her heartbreaking apology to her parents.

She told MIC alum Jamie of Sammy: “I would say we’re very civil.

“And I will always be very civil to him because that’s Santi’s dad.

“There’s going to be times with Santi in school plays and his birthdays and I would never want Santi to feel uncomfortable.

“Like Santi is never gonna do his mum and dad being together and I prefer that more becasue he’s never gonna know what he’s missing.

“Because I always feel guilty.”

She then told how Santi called her West Ham striker spouse “JJ” as her twins with him refer to him, understandably, as daddy.

Dani – who is the daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer – then told how she hadn’t visited the stockbroker and amateur football player while he was behind bars.

Addressing how things played out and affected her dynamic with her parents, she added they were “fuming” and said: “I’ve said sorry to them so many times, I’m sorry sorry what I put you through.”

Back in 2019, her parents were said to be furious after spotting snaps showing the pair snogging.

Dani and Sammy were together in a relationship three times prior to his conviction.

Dani and ex Sammy Kimmence had been in and out of a relationship since before her appearance on Love Island in 2018.

Before Dani went into the Love Island villa, they’d had a relationship that ended in a series of rows.

Once she left the villa and her romance with fellow show winner Jack Fincham came to an end, she and Sammy rekindled their romance.

On April 23, 2019, The Sun exclusively revealed the pair had rekindled their romance after being spotted embracing in public.

Following Sammy conviction’s for defrauding OAPs, Dani finally had enough and ended things with the scammer.

Dani then started dating Premier League footballer Jarrod Bowen.

She confirmed her relationship in an interview on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.

Dani is now married to West Ham striker following a beautiful ceremony earlier this year.

At the time, a source said of their split: “Sammy had downplayed the court case every step of the way and led Dani to believe he hadn’t done anything too serious.

“Now she knows the full horror of what he did, she is broken, she feels desperately sorry for the two men he scammed and whose lives he ruined.”

They then told how Dani felt “utterly stupid for ever believing Sammy and she is totally overwhelmed.”

BAD PLACE

Previously, Dani told how she was in a “bad place” following the court case and split.

Speaking on her and dad Danny’s podcast, Sorted with the Dyers, Dani spoke about the situation she was left in.

She said: “You know how distraught I was so emotional and I’ve never really spoken about it but I was in a bad place.

“So for me now to enjoy me own company and having that space, and not think someone’s gonna come in and murder me, it’s been a journey for me.”

Previously on her podcast she told how she and Sammy would always have a bond.

She mused: “You are never really friends with your ex-boyfriend. It’s a little bit different in my situation.

“Obviously, I will always have a relationship with Santi’s dad, it’s very different when you have children.

“You’re tied together by blood and you’re always going to have a relationship there. But there’s still a line.”

Dani added: “Why would you want to be friends with an ex? You want to move on with your life. You split up for a reason.

“I feel like if you’ve split up with someone just leave it.”
