Yes, while January is known for its blues, it’s also renowned for its epic television. And, that’s the perfect excuse we need to stay at home on the couch and away from the cold temperatures outside.

From The Traitors to Harlan Coben’s Run Away, we’ve got plenty of juicy TV to get stuck into over the coming weeks. And that includes Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which returns to Channel 4 on 4 January. This season is a little different to the rest, and sees celebrities from both the UK and Australia go head to head.

Who is Mack Horton?

Mack Horton is an Australian freestyle swimmer. Although he’s now retired (at 29 years old, what a dream!?), he won a lot of gold medals during his swimming career. Those medals include an Olympic gold, a World Championships gold, and four Commonwealth Games golds.

Mack is married to his childhood sweetheart, Ella Walter. He met Ella in high school, and they started dating in 2015, eventually getting engaged in 2022 and marrying in 2023. Speaking about his wife, Mack previously told the Herald Sun that she is “the secret” to his swimming success. The pair are currently expecting their first child, due this month.

Why did Mack Horton wet himself?

Speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of episode one of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Mack revealed an “outrageous” moment in which he wet himself while filming. But it wasn’t because he was afraid of the challenges ahead.

“I was just busting to be honest,” Mack said of how desperately he needed to pee. “I put my hand up because I had to go to the bathroom, and no one came, and I was like, whatever.”

“It was huge as well,” Mack joked of the pee he let out. “It went on for like a minute and a half. It was outrageous.”

Despite that, his co-stars said they didn’t even notice what had happened, but did mock Mack for needing to wet himself so early on. “None of us realised because obviously there was something far greater in front of us,” explained Gladiators legend Toby Olubi. “I just remember you telling us that happened, but none of us realised whatsoever.”

“That was 10 minutes in, though,” laughed Toby.
