A Place in the Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has faced heartbreak, fear and resilience in equal measure — from fertility struggles and family trauma to the devastating moment her husband collapsed during their dream move abroad.
A Place In The Sun’s Jasmine Harman, 50, has opened up about an ‘awful’ run-in she recently had with a fan of the show on Instagram

For viewers, A Place in the Sun star Jasmine Harman is synonymous with sunshine, optimism and new beginnings.
But behind the scenes, the 49-year-old presenter has been quietly navigating a series of deeply personal challenges — culminating in a terrifying health emergency that nearly changed everything.
Describing it as one of the ‘most embarrassing moments of her life’, the presenter, 50, said the encounter happened during a routine smear test – an intimate examination in women aged 25 to 65 that prevents cervical cancer
Jasmine recently revealed that her husband, Jon, suffered a heart attack, sending shockwaves through her family and prompting an outpouring of support from fans who had no idea how much she had been carrying.
And heartbreakingly, this was far from the first time life had tested her strength.
A Health Scare That Stopped Time

In a new Channel 4 documentary chronicling the family’s move to Spain, Jasmine disclosed that Jon fell ill while renovating their new home in Estepona.
What began as a normal day quickly spiralled into panic.
Dramatic scenes show Jon being rushed to hospital, where doctors later confirmed he had suffered a heart attack — a moment Jasmine has since described as utterly surreal.
Compounding the fear was the devastating family history behind it: Jon’s sister, Jo, had previously died suddenly at just 40 years old from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.
“When something like that happens,” Jasmine later reflected, “everything else disappears.”
Thankfully, Jon is now recovering well and has returned to work — but the emotional aftershock lingers.
“You Start Measuring Life Differently”

Speaking candidly after the ordeal, Jasmine admitted the experience fundamentally changed her outlook.
“I know it sounds strange,” she said, “but even with the fear of what could have happened, it makes you feel lucky when someone survives and is still here.”
“It teaches you to take life in your stride in a way you never did before.”
For a woman who has already endured years of quiet battles, the heart attack became another reminder of how fragile — and precious — everything really is.
The IVF Journey Few Viewers Knew About
Long before the health scare, Jasmine and Jon faced a gruelling six-year struggle to conceive.
The couple eventually turned to IVF, a decision that came with its own emotional and medical hurdles.
Ahead of treatment, doctors discovered a benign ovarian tumour, forcing Jasmine to undergo further checks before she could proceed.
“I had an ovarian cyst — they called it a tumour — but thankfully it was completely benign,” she previously explained.
Against the odds, the first IVF cycle was successful, resulting in daughter Joy. Embryos were frozen, and after setbacks and heartbreak, the third attempt led to the birth of their son Albion.
While hopes for a third child remained, further attempts were unsuccessful.
“It wasn’t plain sailing,” Jasmine admitted, “but we’re incredibly grateful for the two beautiful children we have.”
Growing Up in Silence and Shame
Jasmine has also spoken openly about the emotional scars of her childhood — particularly her mother Vasoulla’s hoarding disorder.
Appearing on This Morning, she once broke down in tears, admitting she felt “embarrassed and ashamed” growing up in a home overwhelmed by clutter.
“I didn’t bring friends home,” she confessed. “When I started working in television, my biggest fear was that someone would find out how we lived.”
Rather than turning away, Jasmine later channelled that pain into purpose — launching a hoarding support website to help other families facing the same hidden struggle.
The Loss That Left Her Heartbroken
In 2024, Jasmine suffered another devastating blow with the death of her A Place in the Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin, who died aged 50 after battling terminal cancer.
In an emotional tribute, Jasmine wrote:
“I have never admired you more than over the last few years. The world feels darker without you.”
Weeks later, she broke down again on Loose Women, admitting Jonnie’s journey forced her — and the nation — to confront uncomfortable truths about life, illness and time.
“You never know what’s around the corner,” she said quietly.
Strength Built Through Survival
Looking back now, Jasmine believes the repeated challenges have reshaped her entirely.
From fertility heartbreak and childhood trauma to grief and a life-threatening medical emergency, each moment has carved resilience into her core.
“These experiences,” she says, “have taught me how to cope when life throws the unexpected.”
And as she continues her work — smiling on screen while carrying scars unseen — fans are seeing her not just as a presenter, but as a woman who has endured, adapted and kept going.
A Different Kind of Sunshine
Jasmine Harman’s story is no longer just about property dreams under blue skies.
It’s about survival behind the smile.
About fear faced quietly.
And about finding gratitude — even after life comes frighteningly close to taking everything away.
