The singer appeared on Free Speech Nation with host Josh Howie on Monday, shortly after Apple Music briefly banned her ‘anti-woke’ song Kiss Kiss (XX) My A***, which features in Pauline Hanson’s new film A Super Progressive Movie.

During the interview, Valance controversially said: “During Covid was the big like tester to see… like the retard meter. And Australia was quite high on that.”

Howie responded with a hint of exasperation: “You’re right, you’ve got me there. We are Free Speech Nation, apart from that one word.”

The moment sparked immediate reaction online. One viewer wrote on X: “Holly Valance really said filter off and hasn’t looked back since. Dropping that on GB News before the watershed is the ultimate middle finger to the polite political establishment. She’s leaning fully into the Reform UK energy… Whether you love it or hate it, she’s mastered the art of getting the whole internet talking about her on a Monday morning. The Kiss Kiss era feels like a lifetime ago!”

Others were less forgiving. “No need for it, as you well know. Poor choice of word,” one wrote, while another added: “Hate the word, it’s offensive and no need to say it.” A fourth warned: “It’s used against disabled people and those with learning disabilities on a daily basis. Which is so wrong. There is no need to use the word.”

Valance also discussed her Apple Music controversy, saying the track was removed after briefly topping the iTunes best-selling songs chart, only to be reinstated following backlash. “If it was like a Trump-bashing right left-wing, Farage-bashing, song that someone on the left side of politics made, then it would have been fine. It would have been no issues because the right don’t tend to have toddler tantrums. We never received any email officially from iTunes or Apple or anybody. So I was like, ‘what’s going on?’”

The song, a reworked version of her 2002 hit Kiss Kiss, includes lyrics targeting trans issues, “snowflakes,” and “cancel culture,” and has drawn accusations of being transphobic. Despite mixed streaming success, it has sparked debate among fans and critics alike.
