Former UFC star Karl Roberson went viral over the weekend as he was seen with the monitor during Saturday’s fight against Oluwale Bamgbose.

Making his first outing under the BKFC banner, the former UFC light heavyweight challenger was all set to meet Oluwale Bamgbose in an eventual second-round stoppage loss.

His bout would become second nature to the ankle monitor he was sporting during the bout. Roberson appeared to be wearing one on his right ankle, with the bulky item poking out from his sock.

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has been making waves for many years. In August, former UFC star Frankie Edgar, who retired in 2022, decided to get back in action at the age of 43. He was also on the card at the BKFC event on Saturday.

Reacting to the moment, current UFC flyweight contender Casey O’Neill described the incident involving Roberson rocking an ankle monitor as “crazy”, writing, “Nah this is CRAZYYYYYY.”

There is actually a story behind why he is forced to wear it.

Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson lost a bare-knuckle boxing match to another former MMA standout in Oluwale’ The Holy War Angel’ Bamgbose on Saturday.

During that fight, his location was known to authorities since he was rocking an ankle monitor.

Roberson was arrested on burglary charges in New Jersey two years earlier.

The UFC veteran faced multiple charges over a jewelry robbery in New Jersey and was arrested in connection to the theft of valuables valued over $200,000. The Howell Township Police Department previously announced his alleged involvement in the heist in a press release.

“Yes, it would be the same person, Mr. Roberson. I’m familiar with his UFC career,” Detective Ryan Jackson told MMA Fighting at the time.

“It is definitely the UFC fighter, I’m well aware of that.

“I’m aware that he’s been released. He was lodged at our county jail for two to three weeks, I’m not sure the timeframe, since then he has been released.”

The suspects in the heist reportedly pried open the rear door of a residential property and stole more than $200,000 worth of exotic jewelry and valuables. Search warrants were issued, and Roberson’s vehicle was identified.

A search of Karl Roberson’s car also found a gun, crack cocaine, marijuana, and items from a house robbery.

Roberson was arrested on felony charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Court records from 2024 show that he changed his plea to guilty, per Daily Mail.

He was then sentenced to five years in the custody of New Jersey’s Department of Corrections.
