Piers Morgan is currently hosting his weekly Uncensored programme from his London home as he recovers from hip surgery following a recent fall at a hotel. The broadcaster, 60, took to social media on Thursday and revealed a “fun fact” about the previous night’s episode where chaos with the host and panel ensued.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter discussed the recent death of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, the second fatal shooting by federal agents there in less than a month and has reignited public outcry. The YouTube host held the latest debate on the subject with The Bulwark commentator Tim Miller, former ICE director Jonathan Fahey, Brandon Tatum AKA The Officer Tatum and host of No Lie, Brian Tyler Cohen.

During a furious debate about ICE agents, Tim yelled, “shut up” at Brandon during the heated clash, as Piers was forced to intervene and issue a time out. Towards the end of the programme, the host was seen touching his ear before disappearing from screen.

While Brandon and Brian were now arguing over the tragic events in the US, the presenter revealed he suffered a painful muscle spasm just moments before closing the show.

Piers explained: “Fun fact: when you see me touch my ear like that for a few seconds, it’s a secret signal to my director to take me off camera and cut my mic. In this case, so I could pop a codeine for a sudden very painful muscle spasm in my post-surgical leg that went on hours…”

The on-screen host was flooded with messages of support as his 8.7 million followers reacted to his admission.

One penned: “Respect for powering through the pain mid-debate. That’s real grit. Get well soon, Piers.”

A second typed: “The level of professionalism it takes to handle that quietly on camera…nothing but respect. Wishing you a smooth recovery.”

“Glad you powered through, Piers. People forget broadcasting isn’t always as effortless as it looks. Hope the recovery keeps going smoothly, no one should have to deal with pain like that on live TV,” a third remarked.

Piers had an emergency hip replacement after falling on a small step at a restaurant in a London hotel. He is on strict doctor’s orders to focus on a three-month recovery period and not allowed to take long-haul flights.
