DAVID and Victoria Beckham have WON their battle with locals to build a new driveway at their Cotswolds estate – so they don’t have to share with celebrity revellers next door.

The couple want to turn a farm track into a second access road leading to directly to their £12million rural retreat in Oxfordshire.

They landed in hot water with officials at the local council after ploughing ahead with an extension to the track to link it to their existing driveway – without planning permission.

Planners have now given the green light for a “change of use” of the track and retrospective consent for the extension to make it an 800ft-long driveway.

The existing route is shared with guests of celebrity fave Soho Farmhouse, a posh members’ club and “rural escape” for stars such as the Clooneys, Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe and Molly-Mae Hague.

But one local “strongly objected” to the Beckhams‘ bid for a secondary access to their Grade II listed estate which boasts a tennis court, treehouse, pond and kitchen garden.

In a letter, she wrote: “The house already has one perfectly serviceable access road so why is another stretch of tarmac land through the woods deemed a good ideas?

“Ramblers use the lane and they should be left undisturbed by giant SUVs lumbering up and down. Please do not allow this application.”

Another objector wrote: “Many locally have said enough is enough and it’s about time the planners indicated this to the applicants.

“Many think the Beckhams have been given far too much on a very small amount of land.”

As part of the plans, new entrance gates will be built at both ends of the loose gravel track along with proposed tree planting on both sides.

There will also be a wildflower meadow along with bird boxes, bug hotels, bat boxes and hedgehog houses to boost diversity.

Papers filed at the local council reveal that building work on the track extension started in June, 2024, but has not yet been completed.

The Beckhams also own a £40million listed mansion in London which boasts an indoor pool, gym and wine cellar.

In a statement, their planning agent said: “The scheme integrates discreetly with its agricultural context and results in no significant landscape or visual harm.

“The works respond to operational, safety and amenity needs, while being carefully designed to conserve the rural, heritage and landscape character of the area.”

Nestled deep in the Cotswolds, the Beckhams country pad has everything you would want for a cosy retreat.

Victoria, 51, and David, 50, bought the Grade II listed home in December 2016 for a reported £6.15million.

However, since moving in ten years ago, the Beckhams have spent a fortune renovating their country retreat.

This includes building a lake that is three quarters the size on a football pitch and has its own island.

The house also has an impressive orchard and several out-buildings.
