A huge ITV star has announced their exit from Lorraine amid the ITV cuts.

Christine Lampard has revealed she will no longer serve as Lorraine Kelly’s substitute, with ITV cost-cutting measures set to take effect imminently. Earlier this year, television executives announced that Lorraine would be slashed to just 30-minute daily programmes – running on a seasonal schedule for merely 30 weeks annually. This means the Scottish presenter no longer requires cover as she will be fronting a condensed show five days weekly.

Christine, who has been filling in for eight years, alongside Ranvir Singh, will present fewer episodes but will continue to “remain as part of the ITV Daytime family” with Ranvir on GMB and Christine appearing on Loose Women. The duo have been covering for Lorraine every Friday, plus throughout all school breaks.

Taking to Instagram, Christine announced her departure, saying: “After many years of being part of the @lorraine family it is now coming to an end. We’ve laughed, lunched and learnt so much from one another. Colleagues who have become the best of friends. As many of the team enter a new world in 2026, I want to thank every single person.”

Back in July, ITV Media and Entertainment managing director Kevin Lygo disclosed that the broadcaster’s daytime programming would undergo a major transformation, with ITN assuming control of Good Morning Britain production. The restructure commences in January, with the format adjustment meaning the programme will be absent from screens for several weeks each year, reports the Mirror.

“Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust, as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres,” she said.

“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”

Over the summer, an insider revealed to The Mirror that there are concerns among Lorraine’s staff that she may decide to leave the show due to the cuts, with the mid-morning programme set to be significantly reduced from next year.

“There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines. It’s hard to see how standards won’t fall….and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. Lorraine and her team are perfectionists – it’s why the show is loved by so many,” they said.

Lorraine has shared her upset at the exits, as her editor of 10 years has also left. She posted on Instagram: “We’ve laughed and cried and not drank nearly enough. I still haven’t accepted that she’s had to leave along with so many of my brilliant team.

“To say I will miss them is the understatement of the century – BUT I count myself so lucky to have been with them on the craziest, happiest most emotional rollercoaster ride of all time.
