The Chase sparked fury from fans online minutes into the final chase as they called out one major error. During Monday’s visit to the ITV studios, host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls onto the teatime show. He introduced James Adele, Parminder, and Liz to the viewers at home before they put their general knowledge to the test.

This week, the quartet faced off against Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, who certainly brought his A-game. First up to the podium was James, who scored a respectable £4,000 in the cash-builder round.

After a nail-biting head-to-head round, he secured his place in the final chase and added his winnings to the jackpot. Hoping to keep the winning streak going was Adele from Manchester, who also raked in £4,000 in the cash-builder round.

But unfortunately, she struggled to hold her nerve in the one-on-one round and was caught with just two questions to spare. Determined not to follow in her footsteps, Parminder managed to successfully collect just £2,000 in the cash-builder round but surprised viewers when he brought his winnings back to the team and landed a place in the final chase.

The last player to take on the Beast was Liz, who managed to earn £4,000 in the cash-builder round but buckled under the pressure in the head-to-head round and was sent packing after just four questions.

With half their team booted out, it was up to James and Parminder to fight off the Chaser in the final round. With a two-point head start, the pair went into the final round with determination and optimism, but things took a turn minutes into the final chase.

In the two-minute final chase, James correctly answered 12 questions despite turning to his teammate for support and participation throughout. When it was Mark’s turn to sit in the hot seat, he gave the players three chances to push back, but despite consulting his teammate, it came down to James to answer the questions.

It didn’t take long before viewers flocked to X – formerly known as Twitter – to call out his poor sportsmanship online, with one user posting: “Well played Parminder, 0, what a legend,” as another agreed: “Parminder just watched that unfold”. A third asked: “Was Parminder on another planet?” as a fourth chimed in with: “Did Parminder even understand the point of being on The Chase?”

Ultimately, The Beast caught the team with 38 seconds remaining, leaving them empty-handed. The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1, or catch up on ITVX.
