Strictly Come Dancing’s Karen Carney has admitted that she is “nervous” as she opened up on a huge doubt ahead of the final.

The former England footballer has made it to the final of the BBC One dance contest alongside professional dance partner Carlos Gu.

The duo will be going up against West End star Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin and George Clarke and Alexis Warr on Saturday (December 20) night.

Hoping to impress the judges and viewers watching at home and walk away with the Glitterball trophy, the duo will perform a Showdance, which is their chance to throw rulebooks out of the window and make a big plea for the trophy.

Each couple will also revisit two dances from earlier in the series. One will be picked by them and the other by the judges.

Karen and Carlos decided to pick their week one Jive, while the judges have tasked them with reprising their Argentine Tango.

However Karen fears that she has made the wrong choice as she admitted that reprising her very first routine has left her “nervous” as she struggles to remember the dance.

Appearing on Friday’s (December 19) episode of Strictly spin off, It Takes Two host Janette Manrara wasted no time quizzing the star on her upcoming dances this weekend.

Janette went on to say: “Let’s talk about your dance that you’re doing tomorrow because you’ve got some good ones coming up.”

She recalled: “We’re going to start with the jive, now the first time around you needed to bounce a ball because you were that nervous about it. Are you a lot calmer this time around?”

Karen didn’t hold back as she admitted: “No. I did it again today and I don’t know how many people who are fortunate to get to the final would ever pick their first dance.”

She continued: “It was 13 weeks ago and I’m trying to remember it and trying to do three dances so I’m a little bit nervous about it but we will just give it a go.”

Elsewhere in the show, Karen was left in tears after Janette asked the star what it would feel like to be the first football player to win the show.

Wiping away her tears, she said: “I don’t know if I’m honest. Hand on my heart I feel like I’ve already won. Honestly this experience, I tell you enough I’m a fan and I’ve sat on the sofa watching it at home so to be here now is enough.”
