‘Big’ John Fisher Releases Statement After Being Detained in Australia

The popular social media influencer has spoken out since police detained him.

Popular social media star ‘Big’ John Fisher has spoken out after he was detained by police in an airport in Australia.

Fisher, who is the dad of promising British heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher, has become a massively popular figure online thanks for his famous Chinese takeaway order and his ‘bosh’ catchphrase.

Due to his popularity, the 51-year-old often travels the world to take part in various different events such as club nights and even stag dos.

In the coming days, ‘Big’ John was set to make appearances at Wentworth Park in Sydney as well as Perth Racing and and Hillary’s Beach Club in Perth, but he has been forced to cancel each of the appearances.

And now, Fisher has spoken out to explain exactly why he can’t make the events, revealing that he has been detained by Australian police and will be sent back to the UK tomorrow.

Speaking in a video across his social media accounts, Fisher confirmed that, due to issues with his visa, his appearances across Australia had been scrapped.

To make things worse Fisher revealed that he will be made to return to the UK on October 15, his 52nd birthday.

“I’m in Australia but bad news, Im flying home tomorrow, on my birthday,” he confirmed.

“I’ve been detained by Border Force for four hours and I’m not in a holding hotel. My visa was legal coming in but they’re not happy with what I’m doing here so they’re sending me home.

“I’m sorry Australia – I’m sorry Perth, sorry Sydney – I won’t be at any of my appearances this weekend, but please support the ones I was going to be at because they’re going to be good days.

“I’ll let you know more when I get home. To be truthful I just want to get home. All the best, let’s have it. Bosh; or no bosh.”

Shortly after his dad’s statement, Johnny Fisher, who boasts a professional record of 13 wins and just one loss, spoke out to make light of the unfortunate situation.

Sharing a photo of the pair, Johnny wrote on Instagram: “The Aussies have detained Big John and are sending him home- rumour has it they are frightened of his express pace bowling ahead of the Ashes.”

‘Big’ John has been a massive supporter of his son throughout his boxing career and is often seen ringside at the biggest fights of the year, including the recent superfight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez.

‘Big’ John Fisher explodes on Gareth A Davies in furious row after he claims son Johnny lost to Dave Allen

Gareth A Davies slammed the decision of Johnny Fisher’s victory over Dave Allen.

Johnny Fisher’s father launched a stinging rant at Gareth A Davies after he called out his son’s controversial victory over Dave Allen.

Fisher secured a contentious split-decision victory over Allen in their undercard bout on the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2 card.

He earned the win despite being dropped in the fifth round, with many boxing fans and critics alike believing Allen had done enough to claim the victory, including journalist Davies and pundit Spencer Oliver.

The talkSPORT duo slammed the verdict of Fisher vs. Allen as they made their feelings clear.

‘Big’ John Fisher, however, did not appreciate Davies and Oliver’s comments.

He was involved in a furious row with Davies and said he ‘lost all respect’ for him following his criticism.

On iFL TV, John began: “Totally respect anyone’s opinion who thought Dave won the fight, but the way you and Spencer went over the top… I thought you were serious journalist… you showed how incapable you are of actually reporting on a proper fight.”

John then revealed he watched the fight back, detailing how he scored the heavyweight contest.

“Watched it back. He won round one to four round, won round 10 and round seven you could have called it for Johnny,” he explained, before adding: “So, for you to say it was a robbery and disgusting…

“You was welcome in my house before… you’ll never be welcome in my house again because you acted like an utter complete disgrace and I’ll tell you to your face because I’m a man. I’m not holding back.

“Anyone can say they think Dave won the fight… Dave’s team themselves said it wasn’t a robbery and you’re shouting out things like that.”

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh also disagreed with the Fisher vs. Allen decision as he released a statement in the wake of the Riyadh card.

On X, he wrote: “The fight between Fisher and Allen I counted differently and it’s my own opinion shouldn’t be considered as judgment.”

Following the controversy, a rematch between Fisher and Allen has been mooted.

Stephen Bunting has released an emotional statement on social media after struggling on stage during his World Grand Prix defeat to Danny Noppert on Wednesday night.

Ahead of his clash against 2021 semi-finalist Noppert, the world number four and former Lakeside champion made an honest admission, despite his dominant first-round victory over Niko Springer.

Bunting posted an average of 97.02 and landed five 180s against the in-form Sprinter, but he admitted that his pre-match preparations have been far from ideal.

“I’ve not really prepared as well as I’d have liked,” he said in his post-match press conference. “There’s been a lot going on at home. Obviously, it’s been a hectic schedule – we were in Budapest, then Basel, then the Pro Tours, and now here.”

Bunting added: “I made sure I gave myself one extra day off. I did some painting and decorating at home, so the arm was working that way – and it’s done me no harm.”

A day later and the popular Liverpudlian was knocked out at the second-round stage by Noppert, who recorded a 3-1 victory on the Mattioli Arena stage.

Bunting struggled throughout and after the match in Leicester, the 40-year-old posted a statement on social media to confirm he was suffering with a bad back – something he believes the darts crowd were aware of.

“Back so sore. Couldn’t force my darts up. Tried stretching and just made it worse,” he said on X. “How I won so many legs I don’t know. The crowd knew I was in pain.”

He added: “Pity the social media full of negativity. Well done to Danny you played well.”

“I focused on my own game in that moment, and it got me back into it,” he added after being asked about Bunting’s 125 checkout. “I’m really, really happy with this win.”

Noppert was also asked why he was “more animated than usual” during the match against Bunting. “I let the emotions go,” he replied. “Every celebration I do is natural… from the heart.”
