JAKE PAUL has been urged to fight Deontay Wilder next – despite suffering a broken jaw against Anthony Joshua.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer was forced into surgery following his sixth-round knockout loss to two-time heavyweight champion AJ in Miami in December.

But Paul has vowed to fight on in spite of the horror injury – which left him consuming only liquids for seven days straight.

He must first be cleared by a physician before returning – but his ex-sparring partner Anthony Taylor named Wilder as the perfect opponent.

Taylor, 36, told NewBettingSites.uk: “I think a good fight for him would be versus Deontay Wilder. Make as much money as you can.

“Jake Paul is gonna be Jake Paul. He’s gonna pack out the arena wherever he fights, because he’s like the Mayweather, everybody wanna see him lose.

“Jake Paul will test Deontay Wilder’s chin for sure.”

Former WBC champ Wilder, 40, returned with victory last June against little-known Tyrrell Herndon, 38, in Kansas.

That followed two consecutive Saudi Arabia losses to Joseph Parker, 34, and Zhilei Zhang, 42.

Wilder is now in talks to fight unified champ Oleksandr Usyk, 39, who challenged the American in a series of callouts.

Paul, 29, meanwhile is recovering from his second loss and shattered jaw but did celebrate ranking as the fourth highest-paid boxer in 2025.

According to Sportico, he made £37m last year, with £7.4m earned outside of the ring.

Mexican great Canelo Alvarez topped the list with £102m banked overall.

Canelo is said to have earned £93million in the ring and another £9m outside of it.

He signed a four-fight deal with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, worth around £240m.

The first was a May decision win in Riyadh against William Scull before his September blockbuster in Las Vegas with Terence Crawford.

Canelo, 35, was beaten on points by Crawford, 38, who announced his retirement in December after going 42-0.

It leaves a rematch doubtful but Canelo – the second highest-paid athlete in 2025 behind only Cristiano Ronaldo – has announced he will return in September following surgery on his elbow.

Crawford was second on the list, making a reported £45m in the Canelo fight aired on Netflix and £4.4m through sponsors.

Japan’s Naoya Inoue was the third highest-paid, having also signed a deal with Alalshikh last year.

For Inoue’s four fights in 2025 he made £33.5m and a further £12.6m to take his total earnings to £46.1m.
