Adam Peaty is said to have left his dad devastated with his blunt message just before his wedding. The swimmer reportedly told his dad Mark that he could attend the nuptials but “would have to sit at the back” of the church. Over 200 friends and family members congregated at Bath Abbey, Somerset to witness Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay exchange vows amidst the highly publicised fallout between Adam and his family. Most of Adam’s closest relatives were dramatically uninvited from the wedding with only his sister, Bethany, permitted to attend.

His devastated mother, Caroline, disclosed on the eve of the ceremony that the fallout had felt like the happy couple had ‘cut her heart out’. However, this didn’t prevent Adam and Holly from saying their vows in front of a celebrity-filled crowd, including Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham and three of their children, as well as broadcaster Dan Walker.

Following the service, the newlyweds exited the church around 1.30pm to the joyful ringing of the abbey bells and were whisked away to their reception at Kin House, a Georgian manor house 17 miles away, near Chippenham.

But while the venue was packed with famous faces, almost all of Adam’s relatives were conspicuously absent. New details have now emerged that his dad was indeed invited to the wedding, reports the Mirror.

A family source revealed to The Sun on Sunday: “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand.”

The family were left even more distraught amid claims dad Mark was told by the swimmer’s sister Beth before Christmas he could attend, but had to sit at the back. A source revealed: “It was a difficult day for Caroline and Mark, so the family spent the evening together. Caroline got upset as soon as she saw the photographs from the wedding. For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones – who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”

The roots of the Peaty family conflict go back to September 2024, when Adam and Holly snubbed wider members of the Peaty family by not inviting them to their engagement party.

Caroline was also not invited to Holly’s glamorous hen do at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds last month, even though the bride’s mother, Tana Ramsay, and friends including Victoria Beckham, were invited. Despite everything Caroline sent a card and gift to her newlywed son for his 31st birthday today.

By contrast, Holly’s dad Gordon Ramsay had a starring role in the special day. The chef said he “couldn’t be a prouder dad” as he walked his model daughter Holly down the aisle to marry Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.
