Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were once TV’s golden couple, hosting This Morning together for 14 years from 2009 until 2023, when the former’s life turned upside down after revelations of his affair with a young production runner became public. While Schofield first met the individual when he was a 15-year-old student at a drama school, the affair did not begin until years later, when the high-profile presenter was married to his wife, Stephanie Lowe, and the public was left outraged.

Schofield quickly departed This Morning and has remained largely out of the public eye since, except for a widely criticised appearance on Cast Away, a survival-style reality programme in 2024. Nearly two years on from daytime TV’s biggest fallout, and people have been left wondering whether Schofield will ever return to their TV screens and whether he still speaks to his former BFF and colleague Willoughby. And it appears that since leaving the screen, his earnings have dropped.

Figures reported by MailOnline in 2025 revealed that Schofield made £20,000 in 2024, far removed from the seven-figure salary he once earned from ITV. His company shows that it paid just £3,947 in tax for the year ending in November 2024, suggesting a significant dip in income.

Despite it still being active on Companies House, its Google profile claims it’s “permanently closed”. However, the company does hold net assets of £2.1 million according to its records, despite its owner’s career downfall. Schofield and his wife share two adult daughters, Molly and Ruby Lowe, and despite the scandal, his family has remained close with them, publicly expressing support for them their dad after his admission of being gay aired live on-air.

However, it seems his relationship with Willoughby has been irreparable, as PR expert Mayah Riaz told the Daily Mirror: “She was absolutely collateral damage at the start. She was placed in an impossible position where any reaction would be criticised. Silence looked complicit, speaking out looked disloyal. That is a PR nightmare no one trains you for.”

“Her brand was built on warmth, relatability and trust. Once viewers started questioning what she knew and when, that emotional connection weakened. TV audiences are instinctive. If they feel something is off, they drift away quietly rather than loudly.” There has been no public reconciliation appearance between the two presenters since the controversy. However, sources have now claimed that Holly is finally ready to face her former This Morning co-star.

“Holly is taking hold of life and facing her demons,” an insider told Heat magazine. “Phillip is one of those, so instead of burying him, she will face him. She’s told pals if he wants to talk, she’s prepared to listen. Phil has reached out to Holly multiple times. He made several attempts to send her messages via mutual friends, but most fell on deaf ears. Holly wasn’t in a place to receive them.”
