At the time, Jake Paul was training for an upcoming boxing match while dealing with heavy public attention. He was already receiving hate for hosting a large party during the pandemic. That same year, police also linked him to a looting incident at a mall in Scottsdale. Soon after, he also faced allegations of sexual misconduct.

Paul’s Family Pushed To The Edge

Authorities said the raid was tied to an incident at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall in Arizona in May 2020. Police arrested Jake Paul and graffiti artist Arman Izadi at the mall. Both were charged with trespassing and unlawful assembly.

The arrests came after reports that a group had looted the mall during protests following the murder of George Floyd.

Paul and Izadi denied any wrongdoing. Police later said they received “hundreds of tips” that accused Paul of taking part in the riot. Those claims prompted the FBI to open an investigation.

An FBI spokesperson, Jill McCabe, confirmed at the time that agents investigated “allegations of criminal acts” tied to the Scottsdale incident. Agents then searched Paul’s Calabasas home. Cameras captured officers leaving the mansion with rifles, video equipment, cell phones, laptops, and cameras.

Stepnick recalled the moment she learned about the raid. “My ears rang with the news,” she wrote. She said she ran from a dermatologist appointment and collapsed in a stairwell. “My heart was racing,” she added.

She said the pressure broke her. “I was unraveling,” Stepnick wrote. She described herself as the family’s anchor. The FBI raid shook that role.

In the end, prosecutors dropped the charges against Paul and Izadi. Authorities made no arrests related to the raid. Stepnick said she felt anger and relief. “This investigation will go nowhere,” she recalled thinking.

Paul never faced criminal charges from the search. The episode forced a turning point, according to his mother.
