The news comes just days after BBC Breakfast‘s weather presenter Carol Kirkwood announced she was leaving.

Emma Vardy’s departure also comes after Ben Boulos quit the daily news programme.

Back in October, Emma, 44, revealed she is pregnant with her second child.

And as Sunday’s episode wrapped, she revealed it was her last episode before heading on maternity leave.

“And my last show before mat leave! Bye!”

Roger then said: “Enjoy, good luck!”

Yet she did give fans hope she would return, as she added: “I’ll be back – see you”.

BABY JOY

Last year, Emma revealed her baby news in a sweet clip where she turned around to reveal her baby bump.

Alongside the post, she penned: “A piece of news…

“We’re welcoming a new addition!!

“Thrilled and beyond excited.

“Little Jago is going to become a brother, and we can’t wait for the next chapter.”

Carol Kirkwood’s career on the box

As Carol reveals she has quit the BBC, here we take a look at her incredible career.

Carol learnt her craft after undertaking meteorological training at The Weather Channel, the Met Office and the BBC, before joining the BBC Weather Centre in April 1998.

She began broadcasting on the BBC News channel and soon added BBC One and all other BBC outlets that feature weather.

Since 2010, Carol has been the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast.

Her regular outside broadcasts include the Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Ascot and royal events.

In recent years, she has also become an accomplished author, publishing four novels to date.

Emma, who is married to football coach Aaron Adams, was immediately flooded with replies from her followers.

One wrote: “OMG so excited for you!!”

Another added: “Congrats my love!”

ALL CHANGE

Emma’s departure comes after BBC Breakfast fans were dealt another blow this week.

Weather presenter Carol Kirkwood broke down in tears as she revealed she was leaving the BBC after 25 years.

Carol joined the BBC in 1998 and has been a familiar and much‑loved presence, most notably on BBC Breakfast.

Speaking about her decision to leave this week, Carol, 63, was clearly emotional as she sat on the sofa with her colleagues Jon Kay and Sally Nugent this morning.

She said: “So, I’m going to be leaving – and it’s really hard, really hard for me to say this because I love my job.

“I love all of you guys and my weather colleagues and of course all the viewers.

“I’ve been so engaged with for many years…but it’s great – I don’t want to be coming in in my Zimmer frame and saying, ‘I can’t reach the Northern Isles anymore!’.”

The star explained how she planned to spend more time with her husband Steve, after their Christmas wedding in 2023.

She will leave the show in August.

He broke the news last month and told how he was heading off to another job before signing off for the final time.
