This Morning presenter Alison Hammond was forced to apologise after she made another blunder on the ITV show while discussing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest

TV host Alison Hammond was forced to apologise following yet another error on This Morning whilst discussing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest. The former Big Brother contestant was seated alongside her co-presenter Dermot O’Leary to address developments regarding Andrew’s detention.
Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest on Thursday after allegations were made against the former prince following the publication of millions of pages of documents connected to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew was subsequently released under investigation.
During Friday’s programme, discussion turned to the late Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked by convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein to have sex with Andrew whilst she was underage. Andrew has consistently denied the allegations.
When the subject arose, Alison mispronounced Virginia’s surname, referring to her as Virginia ‘Guff’.
Viewers were swift to notice the error, which occurred just one day after Alison faced criticism for questioning why Andrew was arrested on his birthday, reports the Mirror.
One viewer posted: “‘Virginia Guff? ? #ThisMorning”. Another commented: “Alison calling Virginia Giuffre Virginia Guff. Honestly appalling presenter #ThisMorning.”
A third remarked: “I like Alison but when it comes to serious topics she’s completely out of her depth #thismorning.”
Alison swiftly corrected herself and offered an apology to viewers, stating: “Sorry, it is Virginia Giuffre, I do apologise.”

The presenter had previously faced criticism over a “weird” remark she made during Thursday’s live broadcast regarding Andrew’s arrest. Alison was presenting alongside Dermot when news emerged that the disgraced former royal had been detained at his temporary residence on the Sandringham estate on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Alison appeared particularly focused on the timing, noting it coincided with Andrew’s 66th birthday. She remarked: “They could’ve done it yesterday, the day before his birthday!”.
Within moments, ITV viewers flocked to social media to challenge her unusual perspective on the situation. One viewer commented: “Alison saying ‘surely they didn’t have to arrest him on his birthday’. What a weird comment about an ‘alleged’ predator.”
Andrew, who has been stripped of his titles, was placed in police custody, with photographs revealing unmarked police vehicles and plain-clothed officers seemingly assembling outside his residence. The BBC reported that laptops, phones and communication devices could be confiscated from the Royal properties as part of the investigation.
Their royal correspondent, Sean Coughlan, commented: “This is another extraordinary development in what has been an extraordinary story. It’s hard to think of any precedent for the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the King’s brother. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, but this still has the capacity to shock and surprise as breaking news.”
Thames Valley Police had previously stated that they were reviewing allegations that a woman was trafficked to the UK by Jeffrey Epstein for a sexual encounter with Andrew, and claims that he shared sensitive information with the convicted sex offender whilst serving as the UK’s trade envoy. Andrew has persistently and vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright announced: “Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.
“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”
Earlier this month, Andrew was asked to leave the Royal Lodge in Windsor, relocating to the King’s Norfolk estate under cover of darkness to avoid drawing attention. He is thought to be residing in Wood Farm Cottage whilst Marsh Farm, his expected long-term residence, undergoes necessary renovations.
Within days of Andrew’s arrival, locals expressed their disdain about the shamed royal relocating to their neighbourhood. It was reported that he was “appalled” by his “cramped” new abode with merely five bedrooms.
A source recently disclosed to the Daily Mail: “He really didn’t want Marsh Farm… He won’t have lived anywhere that small since he left his apartment at Buckingham Palace.”
