Tyson Fury’s USA ‘Ban’ Has ‘Nothing To Do’ With Deontay Wilder Cheating Allegation

Wilder claims that Fury ‘definitely cheated’ during two of their three fights.

Deontay Wilder claims Tyson Fury cannot enter the United States because of ‘cheating’ – but that reportedly isn’t the case.

Wilder has sensationally claimed to Ring Magazine that Fury ‘definitely cheated’ in the opening two fights of their trilogy held in 2018 and 2020.

Their first fight ended in a split draw, with Fury being knocked down twice, in rounds 9 and 12 respectively, before the final bell.

After the second knockdown, he left fans stunned by rising back to his feet off the canvas and managing to get through the round.

The pair agreed to a rematch, which Fury won convincingly via a seventh-round TKO in February 2020.

‘The Gypsy King’ again defeated Wilder in their third and final fight in 2021 via an 11th-round knockout after again dominating much of the fight.

But Wilder has now questioned the legitimacy of the results, alleging on the Ring Magazine’s ‘Mr Verzace’ podcast: “You’re only seeing what you saw – he didn’t win nothing, they gave it to him.

“I can’t think of our third fight, but in two of them, he definitely cheated. I’ve got proof and evidence of that.”

Fury responded to Wilder’s claims in an interview with Boxing King Media, stating: “In my last two fights, I didn’t get the results I was after.

“Oleksandr [Usyk] got the results over me … they were life lessons. In this life, you don’t always get what you want or what you think you did enough to get. But that’s where it stays.

“You don’t hear me crying and moaning about it, saying, ‘Oh my God, he cheated’. That’s not me, and there’s no point in crying over split milk.”

Wilder claimed that the ‘cheating’ allegations are the reason why Fury is banned from entering or competing in the United States.

It is true that Fury has been blocked from entering the States, with his brother Tommy Fury telling Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour’ in 2022: “Me and Tyson just can’t get into America at the minute and that’s the way it is.”

It has been claimed (via The Sun) that the reason for the ban is because of the Fury family’s alleged links to Daniel Kinahan, who was named in court by a judge in 2022 as a senior figure in Irish organised crime.

SPORTbible have contacted Tyson Fury’s representatives for comment.

In the same year, the United States placed financial sanctions on Kinahan, with Treasury officials stating that he is ‘believed to run the day-to-day operations’ of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group. Kinahan has no criminal convictions.

Boxing promoter Kinahan had previously acted as an advisor to Tyson Fury, with MTK Global – a management company he co-founded – managing ‘The Gypsy King’ between 2017 and 2020.

Fury would go on to state in 2022 that he had ‘zero’ connection with Kinahan, and both he and his team have insisted that he cut all ties with Kinahan back in 2020.

“That [being managed by MTK] was from 2017-20, three years. That’s it, done. End of … I have nothing to hide,” Fury said.

In 2021, after being the subject of a BBC Panorama episode, Kinahan released a statement to talkSPORT which read, in part: “I am not a part of a criminal gang or any conspiracy. I have no convictions.

“I am not involved in any proceedings therefore I am unable to challenge this in court. The media know this yet they refuse to acknowledge it.

“There is no evidence or proof against me. I have said this repeatedly: I have no criminal record anywhere in the world.”
