Kelly Osbourne has issued a statement after falling victim to ‘cruel’ backlash following her appearance at the BRIT Awards 2026. The TV personality, 41, attended Manchester’s Co-op Live alongside her mum Sharon Osbourne for the annual music awards on Saturday (February 28), held outside of London for the first time since it began.
During the ceremony, her late father Ozzy Osbourne was honoured with a posthumous BRIT Awards lifetime achievement award, and there was also a tribute performance, curated by Sharon, in his memory. The Black Sabbath frontman died in July last year aged 76 of a reported heart attack after suffering with a string of health issues over the years.
His death came just over two weeks after his Back To The Beginning farewell concert where he reunited with his bandmates. Taking to the stage to accept the award at the BRITs, Kelly stood beside her mum Sharon as she gave a speech about her husband.
“I’m honoured to accept this award for my gorgeous husband, this lifetime achievement award. God knows, I wish he was here to accept it himself. But you’ve got the booby prize, you’ve got me doing it,” Sharon said.
“But I know that Ozzy is looking down on us all right now, and I know what he’s thinking. He hated making speeches, he hated listening to speeches, and he’ll be saying [censored] ‘Just say thank you and get off that stage’. But, I’m not going to because I have to waffle on a bit.
“To be honest with you, he was the most humble, egomaniac you could ever meet. And yes, at the end of the day he will always be a rockstar. We spent most of our lives touring the world, but Ozzy’s heart never left England. Wherever we were in the world, he was always proud to be a working class Brummie, and he never let anyone forget it.”

The speech was then followed by a special arrangement of Black Sabbath’s 1991 song No More Tears with family friend Robbie Williams, who was joined on stage by musicians who have previously played as part of Ozzy’s band.
Following Kelly’s appearance at the BRITs, she was subjected to some trolling on social media over her image. Taking to her Instagram story on Sunday (March 1), Kelly addressed this by sharing a statement with her 4.4 million followers.
The black and white text post read: “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.
“None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way.”
It comes after Kelly hit back at ‘abuse’ earlier this week as she took to social media to slam ‘disgusting’ body shamers after a troll likened her look to “a dead body”.
Kelly took to her Instagram to share the comment, which read: “Looks like a dead body… She’s toooooo thin and fragile… Looks like she’s going to see her dad soon [crying laughing emojis]”
In response, Kelly captioned her post: “Literally can’t believe how disgusting some human beings truly are! No one deserves this sort of abuse!”. She also shared a quote, which read: “This too shall pass, but like, holy f***.”
