The BBC has axed a Christmas special from this year’s festive schedule. With the holiday period fast approaching, it seems the Mandy 2025 Christmas special, starring Diane Morgan, has been delayed until next year.
The programme, titled The Mandy Who Knew Too Much, was originally scheduled for a late-night BBC 2 slot on Monday, 22nd December at 10.25pm. However, it has been suddenly removed from the schedule.
The film Beetlejuice, previously due to air at 10.45pm, has been brought forward to replace the cancelled Mandy episode. The reasoning behind this abrupt change remains unclear, particularly as the BBC had previously promoted it as one of their headline Christmas specials for 2025.
According to the British Comedy Guide, the programme is now anticipated to broadcast in 2026, with the BBC reportedly planning to modify sections of the episode ahead of transmission. It’s understood that the festive special was recorded early in 2025, alongside the remainder of the current series.
It hasn’t been revealed which scene or scenes are being considered for alteration. Viewers, though, have been suggesting potential explanations for the amendments. One viewer wrote on Twitter: “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was that there were some Trump jokes or something along those lines and they were scared of adding to the ‘lawsuit’.”

One viewer speculated: “Is it something that the BBC doesn’t want us to hear and laugh at? Does Dianne’s (character, Mandy) moan about the Labour Party? Donald Trump? Ex-Duke Of York? Come on, it’s a superb comedy! Isn’t comedy supposed to take risks and give us something to laugh and chat about.”
Another fan added: “That strongly suggests there is a joke or scene that is relevant to a recent event or something and they think it will ‘offend’ some. Ridiculous if the case.”
The episode’s synopsis states: “Mandy rarely dabbles in global diplomacy, especially over Christmas when it’s so cold out and there’s good telly on, but when she does, you can bet that she makes a real difference to the balance of power in the world.”
A BBC spokesperson said: “The Mandy Christmas Special has been moved to 2026.” The Mirror also understands the decision has nothing to do with President Trump and that he did not feature or was mentioned in the episode.
