The ITV morning show has moved location as part of the broadcaster’s cuts.

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has addressed claims that the ITV breakfast show’s new set is “cramped” as viewers took to social media to comment on the size of the new studio. The show returned to screens for its first broadcast of 2026 on Monday, January 5, with a brand new look. The flagship morning show has been extended by 30 minutes, and Lorraine has been cut by half an hour due to a schedule shake-up, which was announced back in May 2025. As part of the changes, filming has moved from ITV studios to ITN headquarters in Central London, while the other daytime shows will be filmed at The H Club in Covent Garden.

The new studio layout meant Susanna and co-host Ed Balls were closer to their guests than in the past, including Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch. However, Susanna doesn’t seem to have an issue with the more intimate space and took to X to share a report documenting it while expressing her own delight. “@gmb studio = big headlines! More than happy to be closer to our brilliant guests…,” she wrote.

Her post came after viewers took to X to slam the new look, with one writing: “ITV cuts showing in the new set. So small, looks cheap and people sitting on top of each other.”

Another added: “The problem with the smaller studio is when there are four people at the desk, everyone leans outwards when speaking to look directly at those around them. Unfortunately, in a single camera shot, it looks like we are constantly looking at human leaning towers.”

A third chimed in: “It’s too small a table. Preferred the other one. You’re all on top of each other.”

Meanwhile, a fourth penned: “Sorry, but not a fan of the new set. It looks really small and cramped, and the London skyline behind where you sit looks like a very bad print. It used to look like a decent photograph.”

The final show in the old studio was broadcast on New Year’s Eve, and following it, the presenters and crew were tearful as the set was torn down ahead of the move. As part of the cost-cutting measures, at least 220 people have lost their jobs.

Susanna took to Instagram later that day to mark the occasion, paying tribute to those who hadn’t joined them in their new home.

Posting a carousel of photos, including a group shot of the entire team before the set was dismantled, she wrote: “NEW YEAR’S EVE! A fabulous gathering of the BEST team in television @gmb and a farewell to those off to new adventures…

“I’ll be back in January in our new home. Goodbye to those leaving and a huge thank you to everyone who has made – and those who continue to make – GMB such a fantastic programme – and to Television Centre for being our home for the past few years.”
