Several areas of a major royal residence are set to close in the first few days of the new year for essential improvement works, it has been announced. Windsor Great Park has confirmed that many different areas of the Berkshire estate will be impacted and has warned the public to schedule their visits accordingly to avoid disappointment.

An update from the Windsor Great Park’s newsletter email sign-up confirms that the area’s annual winter clean will get under way from Monday, January 5, with some public areas set to be closed until Friday, January 16.

A number of members of the Royal Family live in or around the Windsor Estate, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Several members of the Royal Family call the iconic castle and the surrounding estate their home. Among these is still Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who still lives in his 30-room Royal Lodge home, despite having his notice served by the King.

Andrew has until October 30, 2026, to move out of the home he has lived in since 2004 and is understood to be moving to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

While it will not be confirmed which residence will house the disgraced former Duke, it has been widely reported that it will be Marsh Farm near the village of Wolferton after a ‘no-fly’ zone was extended to cover the property.
