The singer was candid about her family life.
Legendary singer Lulu has opened up on her relationship with her son Jordan, 48, after previously admitting she “couldn’t say she was a great parent”. The 77-year-old Shout singer discussed her only child, whom she shares with her former husband, the hairstylist John Frieda, on a recent episode of the Therapy Works podcast with bestselling author and psychotherapist Julia Samuel.
“He will not listen to this, of course. It would be too painful, I should imagine, and anyway, he knows all this. He said, ‘I won’t be reading that book’. He said, ‘I know it all anyway,” she told the host. “We are closer and closer and closer because I’ve looked at my pain, and I want to big myself up and say he is impressed at the work I do, but he has told me, you know, he’s…” Julia interjected: “Proud of you?” before Lulu responded, “of the work that I’ve done?”
A clearly emotional Lulu continued: “I can’t even find the words, but that’s what makes me want to cry because he’s very kind and forgiving of what I didn’t give him.”
The Eurovision winning star admitted there were things she could have done differently, but said Jordan had “accepted it and moved on” and that they are now “kind of on the same page”.
In a further positive update about their relationship, she said he understands she is making “amends”, and it’s “great” that she is able to be there for his children, her grandchildren.
“He has forgiven me for all of the things…he’s so magnanimous, but he’s also very intelligent, and kindness and intelligence, I think, come together so he’s kind,” she said.

Lulu and Jordan’s father, John, were married from 1977 until 1991. He was her second husband, following her union with Bee Gees star Maurice Gibb from 1969 until they separated in 1973.
Jordan followed his mother into the entertainment industry and dabbled in acting. He first came to prominence playing Prince William in a 2002 made-for-TV film, which gave a glimpse into the life of the heir to the throne.
However, he subsequently pivoted into the restaurant business, studying at prestigious institutions and working the kitchens of Gordon Ramsay’s London restaurant, learning the trade. In 2010, he opened his first Italian restaurant in Islington, and he currently owns three successful eateries.
He married his wife, Alana Rice, in 2008, and they have two children together – a daughter named Isabella Rose and a son named Edward, known as Teddy.
