Former A Place in the Sun star Danni Menzies has stunned fans as she stripped off into a festive red bikini for a wild Christmas swim in Scotland

Former A Place in the Sun presenter Danni Menzies has left fans amazed after taking a festive plunge in a freezing Scottish loch wearing nothing but a red bikini and Santa hat. The 37-year-old showcased her bravery as she ventured into the glacial waters sporting the skimpy two-piece.

Danni, who departed the beloved Channel 4 property programme in 2022, started her footage wrapped in a cosy white dressing gown. However, the presenter shed her protective layer before entering the frigid loch.

Captioning her video: “Christmas dip,” she discarded her robe and ventured into the water. Footage showed her dashing back to the shoreline, before reappearing wrapped in her dressing gown once more, greeting followers with “Merry Christmas”.

Danni’s admirers commended her resilience in the comments. One remarked: “Definitely, tougher than me.” Another shared: “I’ve done this at Taymouth on the slide and confirm it’s baltic,” reports the Mirror.

A third enthused: “Well done Danni. Bet you it was freezing/baltic refreshing xx Merry Christmas.”

Meanwhile, another follower expressed bewilderment, writing: “Merry Christmas but still can’t get my head round the cold swimming. Have a great time!”

Danni, who departed A Place in the Sun in 2022 to pursue new ventures, has since embarked on a journey of self-discovery.

She confessed to the Mirror: “Life’s had its ups and downs, to be honest. The first month after I left the show, I had the best working month of my life and I got some really amazing opportunities. I didn’t know what was going to happen next, and then I had this amazing month where I was like, ‘wow, everything’s going to be OK. The doors are opening.”

However, just months later, in October 2022, she was involved in a dreadful moped accident, and her life took an unexpected turn as Danni was “taken out” by the stolen vehicle. She was knocked unconscious and left with permanent scars and PTSD.

“Life just kind of stopped. The last few years were hard at times after that.”

She later disclosed that she ended her relationship with her former partner the day after the accident, telling the Sun’s Fabulous podcast: “I was dating someone and he ended it the day after the accident via text, when I looked like Shrek. That was pretty brutal. It hurt as much as the accident.”

Danni subsequently admitted that she no longer felt comfortable posting photos on Instagram, despite having a following of 135,000. When she felt ready to share again, she still used a photo-editing app to remove the scars.

In a heartfelt caption, she revealed the positive aspect of her ordeal, penning: “What hurt you once made you stronger. That’s what scars do. They remind us of where we’ve been but they don’t have to dictate where we’re going.”

Danni has previously spoken about how her career affected her romantic relationships. In a conversation with the Sun in March 2022, Danni stated: “I’ve left the show about a month ago, I’ve done it for six years and it’s about time for a change and there were quite a few things that were hard to do when I was doing the show, like have a relationship.

“Like when you go on a date you’re packing your bag every week doesn’t really happen, so I just thought it’s time for a change.”

A Place in the Sun is on Channel 4
