Good Morning Britain presenter Narinder Kaur has issued a health update after being rushed to the hospital hours after returning from a trip to India and the Maldives. The 53-year-old Jeremy Vine panellist was taken to hospital with a suspected tropical infection on Tuesday (December 30). The broadcaster has now revealed just how unwell she was as she showered the doctors and nurses in the NHS online.

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – the former Big Brother star wrote: “Yesterday I was taken to the hospital for Tropical diseases after falling really poorly suddenly upon returning from India/Maldives. I can’t thank ENOUGH the amazing nurses and dr’s who took shift and amazing care of me and all the other patients there… it was a humbling reminder of just HOW important the NHS is in the UK. I saw some very poorly folk – thank GOD for the NHS.”

She later replied to a follower, where she opened up about her experience as a patient, adding: “Being a patient is always a reminder of how amazing and CRUCIAL the NHS is.

“I mean, what would I have done without them? And more importantly – the kindness!” Narinder revealed that she has “given them [the hospital] a FIRST CLASS review” as she shared a text saying the organisation appreciated her feedback.

Her health scare comes just one day after she returned from her two-week family trip to India. She had been regularly updating her followers throughout her festive getaway.

Updates of her holiday on social media included sharing snaps from the Golden Temple and the Taj Mahal, but she revealed that she started to feel “seriously unwell” after landing back in the UK.

She reportedly had symptoms including extreme chills, intense flu-like illness, and chronic fatigue. It was at this point that she sought urgent medical assessment.

There, Narinder underwent several tests following fears that she could have contracted malaria, dengue fever, or another serious tropical infection. Although it isn’t known what caused her illness, a source told The Sun: “It all happened very quickly. Everyone saw what a great time she was having in India.

“Then she started feeling seriously unwell as she returned to the UK and was advised to go straight to the hospital. It’s been frightening, but she’s in expert hands.”

In some cases, tropical illnesses can take days or even weeks to emerge after exposure. In these instances, travelers could come into contact with infection risks, such as mosquito bites, untreated water, or walking barefoot in temples and religious sites.

Narinder first gained fame when she competed on Big Brother in 2001. She has since appeared on several talk shows, discussing recent topics and social issues. She has been on several daytime shows such as Jeremy Vine, Good Morning Britain, and GB News.
