EMMERDALE star Jaye Griffiths has broken her silence about her exit from the soap – and how she’s finding it tough.

The actress – who played villain Celia Daniels in the ITV soap – was left utterly devastated by her exit despite knowing that she was always going to be leaving after her storyline came to a head.

Jaye revealed that she had fallen in love with the soap while playing its darkest ever villain with modern slavery, drugs running and child sex trafficking at the heart of her operation.

Viewers watched on New Year’s Day as Celia was finally put out of everyone else’s misery by her own son and victim Ray.

He stabbed her to death after she gloated about how she had murdered Bear Wolf herself.

In a twisted final moment she told Ray she was proud of him for killing her before slumping to the floor and bleeding out.

Now actress Jaye has revealed just how tough she has found it to say goodbye to the role and the show.

She told the Mirror: “Working on Emmerdale has been one of my best TV jobs ever.

“There is still that thing of women being maternal, caring and the givers. Celia was none of these and I’ve loved playing her.

“It has also been very hard to face the reality of leaving and it took me ages to learn my lines, because I was so resistant to it happening. It came to my last scene and I nearly cried, then I had to lie on the cold floor pretending to be dead. It has been very hard.”

Jaye added: “I found it liberating to be that unfeeling and, since finishing filming, I’ve missed the soap so much. To suddenly have no scenes to learn, no call sheets – it’s been really tough.”

Her fate was confirmed in today’s episode as Ray talked to his adopted mother’s corpse in a chilling scene.

But when he went upstairs and found Bear’s lifeless body, it was too much for him and he broke down.

Unable to go into the room properly, he apologised to Ted and then left, planning to move in with Laurel and live happily ever after.

Sadly for him Laurel was fully aware of what he was and shut him down hard, demanding he stay away from her.
