King Charles is “regretting” taking firm action against Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, according to a source. It comes as Andrew is suffering from “behind-the-scenes degredations”, including no longer having access to all his staff at Royal Lodge.
Daily Mail columnist, Ephraim Hardcastle, writes: “As well as losing titles, gongs and his mansion, Andrew suffered behind-the-scenes degredations including having Royal staff funded by the King removed, his takeaways from Windsor Castle’s kitchens ended and an edict demanding he stay out of sight until he is eventually relocated.”
The columnist further writes, Andrew’s last plea is not to “reduce him to the rank of commoner”. In a gentle backtracking, it is reported the King is “telephoning Andrew frequently” and “reinstating access to staff and stables”.
In another snub, the former Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have reportedly also not been invited to spend Christmas festivities at Sandringham with the wider Royal Family.
It comes after the former prince was forced to relinquish all his remaining titles, including the Duke of York, after continued reporting on his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The news came after the publication of extracts of the posthumous memoir of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre. Prince Andrew has continued to deny all accusations made against him.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is recently understood to have voluntarily surrendered his gun licence after a visit from the Metropolitan Police.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Wednesday, November 19, Metropolitan Police firearms licensing officers attended an address in Windsor to request that a man in his 60s voluntarily surrender his firearms and shotgun certificate.”
The force said the certificate was surrendered but did not comment further.
Andrew is expected to move to the Sandringham Estate in the new year, after he was stripped of his titles over his links to the late paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The former prince will move to an undisclosed property, thought to be Marsh Farm, on the Sandringham estate, which is privately owned by his brother, King Charles.
