Alexis and George were performing the Paso Doble for a second time in the final when it went a bit wrong.

On the Strictly Come Dancing final, George and Alexis’ last dance of the night was nearly thrown off course when the professional dancer stumbled and fell during their Paso Doble. The episode saw Karen Carney, George Clarke and Amber Davies compete for a final time in the hope of lifting the Glitterball Trophy this evening.

The duo reprised their dance to Ruelle’s Game of Survival, but Alexis momentarily hit the deck after tripping. However, she swiftly and seamlessly regained her footing, allowing them to carry on with the routine. They subsequently earned a score of 39. In some of the show’s montages, George got emotional as he admitted he hadn’t even thought about winning while reflecting on his Strictly journey. He said: “I don’t think we’ve…sorry…really thought about [winning]. I’ve tried not to this week because I feel like that’s why we’ve really enjoyed the process so much because we’ve been so present. Sorry, this is awful for me.”

The YouTube star continued: “I’ve just focused on each week, I’ve focused on each week and really enjoyed that. It would be incredible to lift the Glitterball Trophy. I’ve got insane amounts of imposter syndrome just getting this far.

“If we go home with the Glitterball Trophy or not, it won’t be a week of celebrations afterwards because I think Sunday, and, especially Monday, will hit incredibly hard not going in.”

Speaking about his time on the show before the final, George told The Mirror: “It’s a completely different world to what I’m used to. I’m used to performing into a camera that’s [close up to] my face and I can cut out all the rubbish bits.

“Unfortunately, I can’t do that on the dancefloor. This is something my family can properly understand. They’ve always been supportive but this is different.”

Tonight, George and pro partner Alexis Warr, who made her Strictly debut in the pro line-up this year, performed their Showdance to Human by The Killers.

They also smashed out a Viennese Waltz to Somebody to Love by Queen for their Judges’ Choice. Meanwhile, their Favourite Dance was a Paso Doble to Game of Survival by Ruelle.
