This Morning welcomed a brand new face to its hosting panel today – and the new show star left fans open-mouthed in the process with a VERY rude introduction.

Dermot O’Leary has been joined by a variety of different faces on the ITV daytime show this week, after Emma Willis was forced to pull out of co-hosting the series due to a last minute illness.

On Monday, Dermot, 52, co-presented the series with familiar show face Josie Gibson, while during the week he was joined by Lorraine star Christine Lampard.

But on Friday’s show, he was joined for the very first time, making her debut on the series, by Your Home Made Perfect star Angela Scanlon.

Angela, 41, was introduced by Dermot at the opening of the show, with the two sharing a friendly hug, laughing and joking about her ITV debut.

But the TV presenter left viewers at home in shock as she made a cheeky jibe about ‘popping her cherry’ just minutes into the latest instalment.

Dermot began: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, may I present… Angela Scanlon!’

To which Angela replied: ‘This is wild, it’s also so festive, I feel like this is the welcome that everyone should get, and I’m so happy to be popping my This Morning cherry with you, Dermot.’

As laughs could be heard from the crew off screen, the pair shook hands and Dermot said: ‘We’re old friends,’ to which Angela continued: ‘We’re old pals!’

‘Just the This Morning cherry, everyone, that’s all, keep that to yourselves,’ he joked.

Viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to laugh about the cheeky euphemism.

One asked: ‘Did she say popping her cherry with Dermot?’ as another reacted, with a nervous emoji: ‘Call me old fashioned!’

Noting how fellow show star Gyles Brandreth appeared to raise an eyebrow at Angela’s choice of words, a third said: ‘I don’t think Giles was a fan of her phrase “popping cherry”…’

It comes after Dermot left fans of the show shocked as he leaned over and BIT his co-star Christine Lampard live on air as they hosted This Morning together on Wednesday.

The TV stars were discussing what was coming up on the latest instalment of the ITV daytime show when Dermot turned to bite Christine, 46, on the shoulder.

The host, who normally presents on Fridays alongside Alison Hammond, is standing in for Ben Shephard this week as he and Cat Deeley take a break.

At the opening of the show on Wednesday, Dermot and Christine took it in turns to reveal to audiences at home what would be coming up.

Revealing Red Eye stars Jing Lusi and Lesley Sharp would soon be taking to the studio, they went on to detail how there would be a ‘Christmas shopping’ segment later on in the show.

Christine said: ‘If you still need a last minute Christmas gift, Steve Wilson is here…’

As the camera panned across the studio, it showed tables packed with gifting ideas -and when it cropped back to Dermot and Christine, he bit her on the shoulder.

‘I know, it’s stressful,’ Christine reacted, brushing off the bite, as Steve showed off a ‘stress ball’ toy saying: ‘This will relieve a bit of stress as well.’

Turning towards Dermot, Christine joked: ‘There you have it,’ to which Dermot replied: ‘A member of the team would really appreciate that right now…’

Earlier this week, Emma Willis’s appearance on This Morning was cancelled on Monday just hours before she was due on air, as it was revealed the star was unwell and unable to join co-star Dermot.

On Monday’s show, Dermot and Josie, 40, were quick to reveal that the Love Is Blind host would not be appearing this week as planned, due to a last minute illness.

Dermot said: ‘Look who is back with me, it’s only miss Josie Gibson. Lovely to have you,’ to which Josie replied: ‘Thanks for having me!’

‘For for disclosure, Emma was supposed to be with us this week, but Emma is feeling a little bit poorly,’ Dermot continued, blowing a kiss at the camera.

‘Sending her big love – and that was Emma’s primary school, as well,’ Dermot continued, as Josie added: ‘Get well soon!’

It was not revealed what illness stopped Emma from taking to screens, and Daily Mail have contacted Emma’s representatives for comment.

It no doubt came as a disappointment to fans, who previously begged for Emma to become a permanent fixture on This Morning after appearing as a co-host on the show alongside Rylan Clark.

Back in 2023, the duo filled in for the week leading up to Christmas, joining the revolving carousel of part-time presenters since Holly Willoughby‘s abrupt departure just months before.

Previously, Emma emerged as the bookies favourite to take Holly’s role on This Morning after impressing viewers with her consummate appearances.

And her undeniable popularity has been duly noted among bookmakers, with Ladbrokes giving her odds of 11/10 to claim the coveted presenting role full time.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: ‘Emma Willis made a major impact on This Morning today and after instantly sparking a flurry of bets, she is the new favorite to replace Holly Willoughby.’

Elsewhere show regular Alison Hammond has odds of 2/1, Josie Gibson is  5/2 /1, Rochelle Humes, 6/1, Kate Garraway, 10/1, and Storm Huntley, 14/1, while Abbey Clancy and Angela Scanlon are tied at 16/1.

Earlier this year, Emma told fans she discovered she has had a hole in her heart since she was born and so had surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London in April.

Keyhole heart surgery involves making small incisions in the chest as opposed to the breastbone as in traditional open heart surgery. This meant she avoided an open-heart recovery and instead had a ‘smooth’ recovery, but has had to learn to adjust.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
