CAREER CONFESSION Savannah Guthrie SHARES SURPRISING TRUTH About The ONE PART Of The Today Show That STILL MAKES HER UNCOMFORTABLE

Savannah Guthrie has been at the Today Show for over 10 years
Savannah Guthrie has been a host of the Today Show for over 10 years and a journalist for even longer. But there are still parts of the job she dislikes.
The host joined the Today Show in 2012 after longtime anchor Ann Curry left. When she first learned about getting the gig, she admitted she was “terrified” at first, but she has since become a beloved part of the show.
In a recent Q&A with US Weekly, she shared that there are still some interviews that make her nervous, like her recent one with billionaire Bill Gates. She feels anxious in any interview where she knows there could be a confrontation with her guest.
As someone who tends to stay away from conflict, that’s an aspect of the job she still doesn’t enjoy. She explained how getting people to open up about tough topics is one of her least favorite parts of the job.

She said confrontational moments, especially with politicians, can be the most intimidating part of the job
She said: “Any interview where I feel like they want to dodge [a question], that’s anxiety producing. I find myself in these confrontational moments a fair bit, especially with politicians.
“I myself am quite nonconfrontational. I don’t like it at all. But, in that moment, the job is more important. I’m here. I’m supposed to get the answer.”
But she’s covered several high-profile events. She has interviewed presidents and covered the White House and State of the Union in the past. Guthrie served as a White House correspondent between 2008 and 2011.
She added: “There’s no kid who went to journalism school who doesn’t aspire to that and get that rush.”
At NBC’s Town Hall in 2020, she grilled Trump over his COVID-19 diagnosis and spouting conspiracy about masks and safety protocols. After pressing him for answers, she declared: “You’re the President, you’re not like someone’s crazy uncle.” That was the most recent time she’s interviewed the president.
The journalist has been on a press tour for her new children’s book, ‘Mostly What God Does is Love You.’ It is the follow up to her first picture book, ‘Mostly What God Does.’
While the tour took her away from her hosting gig for a while, she should be back soon. Her final stop in New York City is on Thursday.
