Coronation Street fans are in for a Christmas Day shocker after this year’s festive special ended with a shocking cliffhanger.
Before putting viewers well and truly on the edges of their seats, fans were given a drama-packed episode that featured unexpected baby news, affairs and even a kidnapping.
David Platt, for example, grows suspicious of his wife Shona after he fails to open an aftershave he had previously found in her bag on Christmas Day.
But the biggest drama to take place in Weatherfield on December 25 is a brutal attack of a character we are choosing not to name.
Their fate will be revealed in the Boxing Day episode, when Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) discovers them lying in an alleyway while walking her dog Freddie.
However, this cliffhanger is not the only act of violence to take place on the cobbles this Christmas Day and Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) takes a swing at Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) after he suspects him of having an affair with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).

The biggest drama to take place in Weatherfield on December 25 is a brutal attack of a character we are choosing not to name, who is later found by Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman)
The identity of the attack victim was teased by Catherine, who said they are ‘connected to the Driscoll family’.
She said: ‘Christmas is supposed to be that time where seemingly everyone is supposed to get on, you hang out with friends and family, and everything’s supposed to be lovely, but it’s not like that in Weatherfield on Christmas Day!
‘So, yeah, it’s a big shock…there are two attacks connected to the Driscoll family, it isn’t exactly how any of them envisaged their first Christmas in the Rovers.’
The family has far from an uneventful Christmas in tonight’s episode, leaving viewers with a handful of potential attackers.
These include Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), whose ‘outrageous’ behaviour ruins Christmas as well as Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) who attempts to drown his sorrows and terrible mood with A LOT of alcohol.
However, Ben and Adam could also be responsible, given the fact that they’ve already engaged in some festive violence.
The show’s shocking ongoing paedophila story is also continued in today’s episode when sports coach Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) arrives at the Rovers, much to the delight of her teenage victim Will Driscoll (Lucas Hogson-Wale).
After the true nature of their relationship was recently revealed on Will’s 16th birthday, could his parents have taken matters into their own hands on Christmas Day? It remains to be seen…

The episode comes after Catherine Tyldesley, 42, candidly revealed what she finds the most ‘terrifying’ about being a parent after returning to Coronation Street last month to reprise her role as Eva Price.
While she has been at the centre of several hard-hitting storylines, she admitted that one has hit harder than the rest, with her onscreen step-son Will, 16, being secretly groomed by his female sports coach.
Catherine and her husband Tom Pitfield, 38, are the proud parents of Alfie, 10, and three-year-old daughter Iris.
And with her own son nearing his teenage years, the soap star confessed to Fabulous magazine that she has developed a whole new slew of parenting fears.
Speaking about the grooming storyline, she explained: ‘It has cut deep for all of us, especially with having children. It’s terrifying… It happens a lot. That’s why I will be letting Alfie watch it, because we’ve got to help protect kids. It’s really important.
‘From Alfie’s age onwards, you put your trust in these people, in somebody who is perhaps a teacher, and kids don’t necessarily know what the boundaries are, and what is right and what is wrong.’
